Agreed, I liked this film even more than I was expecting to. It is an excellent Pixar feature, right there with Wall-E and Up, and better, I think, than Inside Out, which I thought was overrated.

Hopefully, the film wins Best Animated Feature. I think it should have that one in the bag, given that the only real competition is from Cars 3 and Despicable Me 3, with only the latter being able to pull off an unlikely upset. However, unless there's a really great lineup of live-action candidates, I'd also love to see it get a Best Visual Effects nomination...and a Best Picture nomination.

Of course, the 4K combo is a day one purchase.

I'm just gonna guess that we're marching right back down that "have to import for 3D" road. Of all companies, I thought Pixar would be getting this right.

Here's a nice pre-emptive

Olaf's Frozen Adventure will 90% have its own blu-ray release (the director of the short stated that some deleted scenes will be included on the blu-ray of the short in an interview the other day).

That's great news. I thought Olaf's Frozen Adventure was just okay, but more to the point, it seemed really inappropriate to pair with Coco. Surely Disney has some kind of family Holiday film this season they could have paired it with? If not, then they should have just let it play on ABC instead. It's not like people really needed the extra incentive to see a Pixar film, anyway, and if anything, I would have preferred another excellent truly short animated film, rather than a 21-minute TV special that pushed the overall length to 128 minutes.

So I'm all for a separate Blu-ray release that keeps Olaf's Frozen Adventure off of any edition of Coco.

We need to talk about the Dynamic Range Compression of Atmos mixes on Disney UHDs. I know they want their movies to sound good on regular portable screens and stuff, so I can understand if they want to do it for regular blu-rays (though I'd prefer them not to).

But since UHD is essentially a premium format, I really wish Disney wouldn't compress the dynamic range of the Atmos soundtracks. I noticed this with GOTG2 as well as the 7.1 mix of Rogue One.

Compare the Rogue One mix to The Phantom Menace or Attack Of The Clones-- the lightsabers and blasters and ships sound immensely more powerful on the old blu-rays. I get that they are different movies and different mixes but recent Disney discs sound anemic with not much headroom or range. It feels like I turned on 'Night Mode' on my receiver or something.

This wasn't always the case as (the first presses of) Thor 2 and Iron Man 3 sound fantastic and powerful.

I loved this but I'm not buying it on disc until Lasseter is out from Pixar and Disney.

You will be waiting a good long while, I would imagine.

Have fun with that.

sure 'The Phantom Menace' is flawed but the audio even on the bluray is aggressive and has a significant dynamic range that is simply outstanding.

I'm not sure why this is but Dolby Atmos theatrical mixes across the board are so hit and miss, the most inconsistent being the ones from Marvel AND the latest Star Wars movies; and now with UHD, Pirates and Cars 3 audio encodes are getting mucked up .... why oh why!!! [bangs head on wall]

You had no problem giving them your money to see the movie in theaters but buying the disc is where you draw the line lol Be sure to never watch Toy Story again, that will show him. I just don't understand how people who protest by giving up their favorite things in life or moving out of the country think they're hurting the other guy more. Life is too short
