Default The LG GGC-H20L doesn't play HD DVD

I bought a LG GGC-H20L from Newegg in September 2008, and am unable to play HD-DVD. I could play Blu ray, regular DVD, and audio CDs, and got the error after inserted a HD DVD - "No DVD Inserted".

My system:
WinXP with SP3
Intel Duel Core 2 2400
4 GB memory
AnyDVD v6.4.7.9
Power DVD v8.0 Ultra

Appreciate for all helps!!!!!

It's probably because Cyberlink removed HD-DVD support from PowerDVD 8.

Does PowerDVD 8 support HD DVD playback?

After Toshiba made their announcement that it will no longer develop, manufacture and market HD DVD format discs and the fact that there will be limited new title releases in HD DVD format, CyberLink has decided to remove HD DVD support from PowerDVD 8. However, CyberLink will continue to support and maintain HD DVD movie playback in PowerDVD Ultra (version 7.3).

For the PowerDVD Ultra users who wish to keep HD DVD capabilities, we highly suggest them to purchase a full version of PowerDVD 8. The full version of PowerDVD 8 does not uninstall the previous version and will allow users to have both Blu-ray and HD DVD players. Users can use PowerDVD 8 to playback BD and DVD titles, and use PowerDVD Ultra to playback HD DVD movies.

For the PowerDVD Ultra users who want Blu-ray capabilities only, they can purchase the upgrade version. The upgrade version replaces PowerDVD Ultra with version 8. Hence, they will no longer be able to have HD DVD movie playback. Since this is an upgrade version, the price is relatively lower.

I'll tell you something f117b2. I have this same drive and I will repeat what I said in one of my earlier post. This drive if you buy it retail as I did at Fry's Electronics, it should come with Powerdvd Suite 7.0. And you can download the update. You don't lose the ability to play HD-DVD. In fact, my first movie I purchased was Transformers HD-DVD. I also have Friday Night Lights on HD-DVD as well and it plays flawless. You lose HD-DVD support when you use any version above 7.0 for powerdvd. I would clearly state again, try Arcsoft Total Media Theater Extreme. Good luck and peace....

HD DVD shouldn't even be mentioned in these threads. Blu-ray doesn't talk to the dead (HD-DUD).
