Thumbs up Best upgrade ever from BD to 4K

Lots of best and worse threads around, what about giving your take on the discs that were truly worthy of spending money upgrading?

I'll start with:

The Mummy (1999)
The mummy returns (2001)

No because they are perfect, they are far from it but the regular blu-rays were so bad that the upgrade is totally worth it for me.

yeah I'd say Mummy, Unforgiven and A Few Good Men in terms of sheer disparity between BD and UHD. Haven't seen all the Potters but Deathly Hallows 1 blew me away too.

Probably every one except 3:10 to Yuma, Kick Ass, Cabin in The Woods (for great films). I personally, wasn’t too impressed by Close Encounters and Spider-Man: Homecoming.
What comes to mind are:
- Unforgiven
- Men in Black
- Spider-Man: Origins Trilogy
- Blade Runner
- Pacific Rim
- E.T.
- The Revenant
- Planet Earth II
- Leon: The Professional
- Harry Potter: Years 1-4
- Starship Troopers
- Star Trek & Into Darkness
Those first two Mummy films are extremely impressive. .

Even though the last BD release was excellent, I still felt like Bram Stoker's Dracula was a revelation in 4K. I've seen that movie dozens of times since I was a kid and watching it on UHD made me feel like I was watching a lot of the scenes for the first time.

Blade Runner?

But that's almost too easy, because the BD kinda sucked.

Blade Runner. Although if they included an updated blu-ray counterpart, I'm not convinced I would feel the same.

of the ones I've seen: fifth element, jumanji, men in black, ET, and the mummy are all significant upgrades over their bluray counterpart

Spiderman 1 and 2 as well blew me away when making the comparison

I disagree with some examples.

E.T. or Unforgiven (remastered) are amazing on Blu-ray, so the difference between their BD and UHD version is not that dramatic as on, for example, already mentioned Blade Runner.

To be fair, it didn't suck when it was released. It was one of the better looking early titles. Things have just improved so much since then..

Those I own: Deadpool, Blade Runner. I have more Sony releases, but they had excellent remastered blu-ray counterparts and upgrades aren't as drastic. Judging by screens - Harry Potter early films are massive upgrades. I think, the same will be said about Nolan's films.

There are a lot of worthy upgrades, but one that I felt was the best upgrade from BD: The Grinch Who Stole Christmas

I know it's not at the top of most lists, but given how ugly the BD looked, this was the most dramatic improvement, IMO.

Yeah, but there was remastered Blu-ray, so we should not compare UHD with the old, but with new edition.

The Mummy '99 looks amazing in UHD. So do a lot of the film to 4K movies, like Bram Stoker's Dracula, Fifth Element and E.T.

I think Independence Day 'though not perfect looks better on UHD BD than either the 4K restored BD or the first release.
Also:
-E.T.
-Close Encounters Of The Third Kind
-Léon, The Professional
-Star Trek Into Darkness.
-Lucy

If we talk about NEW releases the biggest differences I've seen between UHD BD and BD are Sully, The Dark Tower and Passengers.

The mummy
Independence day
Bridge on the river kwai
Blade runner
Bram stokers dracula
Pacific rim
Fifth element

And anything else with dolby vision.im honestly to a point where unless its a full 4k remaster, i wont touch hdr10 anymore. Not worth the cost of double dipping for such little gains. Where as ive yet to get a dolby vision title that had me regret the buy. Kickass a prime example. Great transfer? Was barely better than the bd upscaled, but hot damn, color and depth was just nuts with the dv.

That's why I haven't upgraded to 4K for this because the remastered BD looks awesome.
