To me the remake was a complete waste of time. What was particularly insulting was how much the director talked up about how important the original book was to him and then he ends up just copying the Swedish film almost verbatim except with the usual dumbing down and making it 'louder'.
I.e. for the pool scene (spoilers) [Show spoiler]

Do you like incredibly well made movies with superb acting?
Yes? Then you will love this one. The remake is a travesty though (as expected). After you watched it, watch this for a in-depth comparison. This one also doesn't treat the audience like toddlers. |

^ Thanks for the link (above) to the "Essential Viewing" comparative analysis.
I was a little more (ok, a LOT MORE) generous forgiving the noted transgressions of the remake but these guys nailed it pretty damn spot on. If the original did not exist, "Let Me In" would be a mediocre, fun vampire romp. But, because it does, its' shadow eclipses any and all merit the remake might otherwise have. Like most films, stick with the original... ![]() Last edited by Gorgon; 12-14-2017 at 11:40 PM. |

Now, whether you need a premium edition of a film's release or not is totally your call (same film, different package) but personally, films I care a great deal for, I seek out premium packaging. ![]() edit: I guess this rationale would explain why I have 4 distinct copies of "Perfume"..... |

But on the other hand I was able to get myself the German retailer exclusive wooden box set, that comes with actual perfume bottles. This here: http://moovimetro.blogspot.de/2012/0...ates-2010.html Still crazy that that movie sits at like 56 on metacritic (I don't choose my movies based on that). It's another masterpiece. And don't ask me how many copies of OldBoy + Snowpiercer + Ghost in the Shell 2 I own. |

Well done. FYI; I've noticed "Perfume's" Blu premiums show up on EBay for not unreasonable prices on occasion but; with what you have (backed up by ANY Blu) you win... ![]() |

Unless cellophane was damaged as well. And no, that's not common, but it happened for me on 1 or 2 steelbooks as well. My "Wild At Heart" steelbook arrived in some sort of glue. And that was behind the cellophane. I guess it would have been even better if you checked before removing the cellophane, but just send them the photo and ask them for a replacement and see how it goes. Worked fine for me back then with WaH. |

I'd like to buy this, but can anybody give me any info about extras and a/v quality of the master? I've noticed that the KimchiDVD edition has a BD50 while this and all European releases have just a BD25, so maybe there are differences between the two releases.
