Joe,

First off welcome to the forum. I personally have never heard of this brand of blu-ray player until your post. It appears this player is available in the UK? Do you know if this is a name brand or store brand? Does Logik have a web site for it's other products? Does the manual provide any insight on were to look?

Default Logik

Logik is an electronics brand usually assosiated with MP3 players. it is manufactured by currys (The Dixons group). thats all i know about them. It also uses the same interface as the bush BD01 player as well as most low end blu ray players.

Default cd?

Hi, im new here, but as far as i understood it, you had to update it via cd, not sure if you are suppose to ring them for that cd.

I was also thinking of buying this blu ray player, but i was unsure because it was so cheap, all the others are £200+ and this is £129.99. Just made me wonder why, can you tell me what you think of it and if you have had any problems with it?

Thanks

Question Lbd1000

Firstly the look of the player: It has a nice black shiny finish with metal trim at the top, for £130 you would expect it too look cheap but suprisingly it dosnt.

The first movie i watched on it was hellboy 2 and the quality was very good running at 1080p on my LG 5700. but i noticed the film freezed every 2 seconds, to fix this i went into the players settings and set HDMI to auto instead of 1080p(although it still ran at 1080p) and film mode to 24p. This fixed the problem and the film ran back smoothly

also i was in my local rental shop and i was watching their blu-ray display, they were using a top of the range sony model and to tell the truth i didnt see an amazing amount of difference over the logik certainly not worth spending an extra £150 for.

hope this helps

Joe,

I can't find any other info other than it's sold at Curry's/Dixon's as you've stated. I'm going to assume it's a rebadged player and if we knew who the original manufacturer is it could help. Is there a phone number or website listed in any of the documentation that came with the player? If so, I'd give that a try. If you can find a phone number I'd give that a try and ask about a website to download future firmware.

If you do get any leads please post back with the results.

I have contacted dixons directly to ask how to go about getting technical support for all their "own brand" products and if there is a specific website or number i can call to get the help i need.

I have also purchased this player. For the money it is very good.
It doesn't look cheap and has lots of connections on the back, which you wouldn't normally get from a cheap player.

Regards the updating to profile 2.0, there is a small bit in the manual that says to go to the support.thetechguys.com website for updates. However I can't find anything on the site regarding this player, so I assume this is because the player is new and has no updates yet.

I do have an issue with DVD playback. It upscales the dvd's but I can't change the aspect ratio on the TV for it to fill the screen. Bluray fills the screen fine. I assume this is to do with the output resolution but I'm not sure how to fix this.

Default Logik LBD1000

Purchased one of these today. Called at Blockbusters got 2 Blu Ray DVD's to sit down this afternoon and enjoy with family. Started great for about 20 minutes then started freezing assumed it was disc so cleaned it got back to where it froze and started the film from there. 5 minutes later froze again, put second film in and that also froze, no response from anything on remote had to power the device off. Tried again and yes it froze again. Broke seal on brand new BDVD thinking maybe it was shitty films hired, oh dismay that also froze. Seems to me you get what you pay for !!

Will be returning item tonorrow and exchanging for another if they have one. Will post again to let you all know what goes on with replacement.

Not happy at moment but maybe it's just a faulty one.

I bought one of these a week or so ago. The picture is very very good. The only problem I have is connecting it to my old 5.1 surround system. Firstly the instrucions advised me to not connect the back surround cables, but to connect the back left and back right instead. This doesn't work. You have to do the opposite. The second problem I have is that the bass is way too high on the subwoofer (even if turn to the lowest setting. There is a setting for the subwoofer to adjust the Bass Crossover freq from OFF, 80HZ, 100HZ, 120HZ. I have a cheap ALBA SPKRKIT559 with a 25W subwoofer, but I no idea what HZ to apply. Has anyone connected this model to a 5.1 system via Composite aidio cables. If so what settings did you reply?

Returned the Logik LBD1000 to Curry's (UK) today for a full refund and got a Samsung BD-P1500 from H.M.V (UK) for £149.99. Yes £20 more but a much better Blu-Ray Player & easy to get firmware updates.

After buying this player and finding a skipping problem on my Band Of Brothers box set I too looked for the upgrade. It states on the tech guys website that an upgrade has been delayed, I too decided to return the player to Currys for a refund, that's when the fun began.
Firstly they had no Logics left in stock, I asked if I could exchange for a Sony S350 which HMV had in stock at £180, they checked with the HMV to make sure they had it in stock and they had so I asked for a price match as Currys price was £200.
Then Currys decided to try out my Logic with a 5 minute loop Blu Ray disc and because there was no problems on playback they refused to exchange or give me a refund. They told me it was my discs that was the problem and I told them that I tried them out on a friends player with no problem, I also informed them that there was no update available and I concidered there advertising to be false at this time.
For 2.30 hours I refused to leave the shop without a refund or upgrade as I only bought the player 2 days before, during this time they phoned Logic, the Tech Guys and other offices who didn't know anything about the upgrade.
I told them I wasn't prepared to leave the shop and a man who was about to buy a set of headphones for £99 left the shop empty handed because he was disgusted at the way I was being treated. They decided to phone Curry's head office in the end who said the following about the upgrade.
Logic have had problems developing the upgrade for the LBD1000 and the chances are they may never be able to do it, because of this they are now concidering discontinuing the player.
They decided to refund me my money and I told them it was the last time I ever go into Currys for anything, also I told them that the other people who bought this player should get a full refund too because they have falsely advertised the product. I also told them I was going to get in touch with trade discriptions to report the company which I am doing tomorrow in person.

I got my Sony with 3 free Blu Rays from HMV as Currys refused to upgrade me and discount the product because I caused so much trouble, I'm glad they did now.
