Universal will release Doug Liman's American Made (2017) in the UK on 26 December 2017.

I didn't realize that some of the international discs for this film were already out. This may be nothing, but I've just seen what appears to be the BDInfo scan from the Australian/Western European Blu-ray and I wanted to give everybody a heads up that it has a surprisingly low video bitrate, possibly because of the many audio tracks, including a German: DTS:X track with a DTS-HD MA 7.1 core. However, what is pretty interesting is how the capacity hasn't really been used completely, with a 33 GB feature and only a 42 GB disc:

Now, take this with a grain of salt, as it is from "the internet" and it could be inaccurate and/or incomplete. Also, it seems that Universal may have been producing UK and/or Australian-only discs, with only English options, for several of their latest Blu-rays. However, based on the specifications at various sites, it seems that for American Made, this may indeed be the disc used in the UK. It must be used in either the UK or Australia, because there is an English: Dolby Digital 2.0 track, which in this case, must be a descriptive audio track, due to there being no audio commentary on the film.

Also note the additional smaller English subtitle track, which will likely be for non-English dialogue. Based on precedent with Universal titles, the US release will likely have these subtitles burned in as they would be theatrically.

It probably won't make much, if any difference, but if this scan is what the UK are getting, then you guys may want to hold off on the UK disc until the US release comes in January, and we can compare. I have to admit, I was surprised to see such a low video bitrate from Universal, especially for a disc seemingly nowhere near capacity. Altogether, the video bitrate is about 5 Mbps lower than I would have expected, even with the multiple dubs and subtitles. I know Universal's US discs usually have slightly higher video bitrates, and I did notice that The Mummy (2017) was a bit lower than usual in Europe, though American Made is lower still.

In any event, I missed this one at the cinema, but I heard it was quite good. I've already seen Barry Seal's story in Cocaine Cowboys: Reloaded, and I remember it being as crazy as everything else that happened at that time.

Hi everyone, picked up the 4k in HMV today but was sad to see there were no copies with a slip cover, I've seen a couple of pictures without it, can anyone confirm if it just doesn't come with one?

Copies in Tesco did, HMV didn't.

My copy from Zoom also had no slipcase but given I ordered when they had that 25% code can’t really complain.

As I expected, here is the BDInfo scan from the US BD (in the US UHD/BD release), and the video bitrate is over 7 Mbps higher. Shockingly,while the UK BD disc is shared with Europe, it seems that the UK UHD disc may contain only English language options, so perhaps it is the one to get for 4K setups?
