Just purchased a 3.1 CCB-8 package and curious what is the correct height to mount them? I have read people having them several feet above ear level and others recommend at ear level.
Please help before I order stands. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

They gave me the info in the owners guide. Recommended height is 36”, 22” from sidewall and 7’ from rear facing wall. My problem is that I have mine in an open living room.
I guess I am going to spend a few weeks moving them up and down until I find a sweet spot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yup, try moving them around until you find a preferred configuration.
Personally, I like my mains a bit wider than recommended and I like my center channel turned up louder (+1 or 2dB than Audassey says.) Its all a matter of taste and how it sounds in the room. |

You want the center of the cone at ear level. These are conical speakers - point source types. Reminds me a little of my Bag End M6's that I had to sell a few years ago!

I ended up mounting the fronts 32” which places the center cone at ear level for L/R but had to place the center about 12” below and angled up a few degrees towards me. These 3 speakers and a new vtf1-mk3 have completely changed my opinions on retail name brands. I thought my definitives sounded great but these are an entirely different sound. I feel like I’m in the movie scenes now.

I just bought a set of three. Note that, unlike most speakers, the CCB-8s were designed to be listened to at 15 degrees off-axis instead of pointing right at you. So if you were to draw a straight line (or use a piece of string) coming straight out from the center of each speaker, they would intersect a couple of feet in front of you. This 15 degree offset works perfectly for the center channel speaker, as that speaker is inevitably above or below your screen and cannot be at ear height even if you wanted it to be.
Also, those measurement guidelines in the Hsu instructions are just that... guidelines. (After all, few have the luxury of positioning their speakers 7’ out into their living room!) Generally, just have them out away from your walls, if possible, and you’ll be just fine. Last edited by New Yorker; 04-02-2019 at 07:44 PM. |
