Default Handshake issue between Elite Kuro and Marantz

I've been having HDMI handshake issues for the past two or so months now.

Everytime i switch to different input on my Marantz sr5011 reciever it'll take at least 5-10 minutes before my Elite Kuro Pro 101FD stablish a proper handshake. Untill then it's just audio and amd an occasional 8 times blu light blink on my monitor

I've tried switching hdmi cables, from wallmart brand to monoprice premium certified, but nothing happens.

I've called marantz and told them that the issue starts happening when they've updated their firmware. I was told that the problem is not on their end, and it's probably pioneer's outdated firmware.

I've tried looking for pioneer support number, but i couldnt find anything for plasma tv, probably because the line has been discontinued for years now.

I'm not ready to giveup on plasma just yet.

I could really use anyone's help right now to point me to the right direction.

It sounds like everything is working except the 5-10 second delay. This might be something that you will have to live with. A 5-10 second delay is a little long but at least its working. Switching input from a Blu-ray player, cable box, or satellite receiver will just mean up to a 10 second delay now after you did the latest firmware update from Marantz.

If the problem only occurred after the firmware update, then its too bad you cannot roll back and install a older firmware from Marantz that does not have this delay. Marantz must be only testing their firmware on the latest flat panels. The latest Pioneer plasmas are 10 years old (Pioneer stopped issuing firmware updates around 10 years ago). I would complained to Marantz that one should not have to purchase a new display when updating the firmware on their A/V receivers just because the latest firmware does not support HDMI version 1.3 properly.

Thanks for the reply, but it's not 5-10 seconds, it's 5-10 minutes.

As you've suggested, im definitely going to call again for the reason that one has to purchase a display when updating firmware on thier reciever.

Sorry, I should have read your post more closer. 5-10 minutes is unacceptable. To shorten that time frame after switching inputs on the A/V receiver, try power cycling the A/V receiver or Pioneer plasma to reset the handshaking (then maybe you might get 5-10 seconds, but power cycling a piece of equipment is a work around and not the solution).

Turn the power off and on on the A/V receiver from the remote control. This should restart the HDMI handshaking. If that does not work turn the power off and on the plasma display.
