I have the Yamaha RX-V675 7.2 Channel. I do not want a router up in the home theater. I have an idea of what I am needing to hook this reciever up to the internet wirelessly I just don't know what exactly I am looking for and I am needing it not to break the bank.
Can anyone help me out as this is really frustrating me. |

Do you have a solid wifi signal in your theater? If so, then all you should need is a wifi access point or extender with an ethernet port so you can wire it to the AVR. I use Apple Air Ports, but there are plenty of other types if you don't do Apple.

Look for lower end ROUTERS available on technology sites, and buy one that you can put in ‘wireless bridge’ mode. I bought an ASUS router from Tiger for $20 with a $10 rebate, so only cost $10. The second router acts as a client on the main wi-fi lan, and any device plugged into Ethernet is connected to the main lan.
There used to be gaming accessories that would bridge an Ethernet-only device to a Wi-fi lan, but these seem to be on the way out with networking sets that include extenders that offer Ethernet ports. |
