Default Heading for CEDIA Expo. Sept. 13th

Greeting Forum Members,

As you may be aware by now, I am in the custom home theater business, designing, equipping and installing high-end home theaters. Each year the manufacturers of video and audio product exhibit to us (CEDIA Members) in the custom industry their 2006-2007 product lines. I've seen many forum members curious about what's coming from the manufacturers and when. At CEDIA will be product designers, engineers from the manufacturers, manufacturers representatives, etc. Often a wealth of 'insider' information, not yet public. I'll be there in Denver, CO from September 14th. through the 17th.

I always come back from CEDIA, looking like the 'bag lady' with tons of insider information on the manufacturers product lines. You can rest assured I will share as much as I can with 'You'. I will return on Sunday, Sept. 17th and post as much information as I can here on the forum on Monday, 18th.

Obviously, my trip there is to get up to speed on the product lines we carry, not everything exhibited, though we may look at them. The lines I'll have detailed info on are: Sony Qualia, Sony ES, Sony, Runco, Arcam, Anthem, B&K, bel canto, Lexicon, Pioneer Elite, Integra, Mark Levinson, Paradigm, and Revel.

So, if you have a keen interest in what's coming from any of those I've mentioned, just let me know and I'll do my best to assist you.

Jim,

I would appreciate your taking as many pictures as possible of the front and rear views of every player there.

Thanks!

Good morning Chad,

I'll do my best. I have a Nikon D2X 12 megapixel Camera that will take excellent 'detail' shots, providing the manufacturers and exhibitors allow photo's to be taken. Last year only the 'press' were allowed to take photo's of any prototype products. Production models were allowed for anyone. This should be a very interesting and important show. Hopefully we'll see products using HDMI 1.3 spec's, VC-1 Codec, etc. Expect to see alot of Pre-Amps and Receivers with a minimum of 2 HDMI In's and 1 Out, Dolby Digital HD and DTS HD and Uncompressed PCM Audio capabilities. Video upsampling to 1080p will be everywhere, and of course multiple Blu-Ray and HD-DVD Players. Most all this product will be targeted for introduction on or before the Christmas holiday season, starting around Thanksgiving. I'm salivating !!!

Good morning Jodi,

I am too ! I own and enjoy the Arcam FMJ AV-9 Pre-Amp and the Arcam FMJ CD-36, both mind blowing products. For power I'm using the Anthem Statement P-5 Amp at 325W per channel x 5. My speakers are 4 Paradigm Studio Reference 100's (Front L&R and Rear L&R), the Reference CC-570, and two Studio Reference Servo-15 Subs. On the video side I have the 'New' Sony 60" SXRD XBR with 2 true 1080p inputs (awaiting the arrival of a 2nd generation (1st quarter 2007) Sony Blu-Ray (with all the bugs worked out!!).

Yes, I always keep close watch on the Arcam line, and I'm sure I'll be drooling again this next month. I'll keep you up to speed. Thanks for the confidence in me.

Jim

I have ARCAM 3000 receiver. It rocks. Also my DV79 is a damn good dvd and cd player.

I hope you and all the attendees really give Sony hell for the subpar quality of BD.

Good equipment . . . Do you mean the Arcam DiVA AVR-300 ? If so, Yes it is an outstanding audiophile level receiver, able to compete and perform as good as seperates.

This goes without question! I'm more concerned about the what and when on a player that will satisfy the video & audiophile's expectations and have the fixes we have all been talking about here on the Forum. Your concerns and expectations "will be" asked and answered !!!

Yes, it's the AVR 300 and it sounds almost as good as my Lex MC-1.

Eagerly awaiting your report.

I may be heading to CEDIA as well though i'm still not sure as my plans are up in the air. If I go i'll be sure to share whatever scoop I can get about the new products and i'd be sure to take lots of pictures.
