Glad Batman and Harley Quinn did well enough on 4K for DC/WB to continue doing these on 4K!
Now if only they could make their steelbooks 4K

Is 4K even needed for these releases? I don't see any major difference in picture quality.

Both movies are part of the DC Universe Animated Original Movies

Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay is also part of the DC Animated Movie Universe. This is a subsection of the overall Animated Universe that is specifically within the "New 52" Universe.

I'm honestly more excited for the 2 part Death of Superman movie. I'm just waiting for the New 52 animated universe to die out.

4k is great but it's not really worth the upgrade from a bd in the case of DC animated movies imo.

I've enjoyed the Batman Trilogy within the New 52. I know some people didn't like it, but I found it pretty enjoyable.

Agreed. The animation on these isn't all that great. They look fine in 1080p. I really can't see what 4K will add.

Well it all depends in the artistry and imagination of the creators and their equipment, but I would imagine that yes they would use it. Digital cinema has the wider P3 color space. And photographic/film processes have been capable of a similar wide one since color was used. (So those Looney Tunes/Disney films could show richer and richer)

Smaller black triangle: Blu-rays/HDTV/PAL (709/sRGB)
Big black triangle: 4K Blu-rays (2020)
Darkish red-brown triangle: P3
Darkish green arrow: Adobe98/originalNTSC/Technicolor filter green
HDTVvsP3vsA98vs2020.jpg

On regular Blu-rays color saturation is limited to the small black triangle. On 4Ks since their color is encoded in 2020, saturation can be encoded as high as the big black triangle. Most current good wide gamut UHDTVs (and retina iMacs and new OLED iPhone, etc) are now capable of around the (dark red brown) P3 triangle. There are also other wide gamut monitors that can display the more saturated Adobe98/originalNTSC/Technicolor green (mainly monitors aimed to photographers as film has those cyans and greens) (look for the spec saying: "Covers 99% of Adobe98" or something like that). Those usually don't reach the P3 reds, yellows, oranges and magentas tho, just basically the HDTV ones. But the Sony OLEDs used in mastering cover both the Adobe/NTSC/Technicolor and the P3 color spaces natively (I tend to call them P3A monitors ) so I would think a creative filmmaker could think far ahead and use that palette (or since color being digital, say "I want the Joker's hair reach the 2020green").
As consumer monitors progress, soon we'll have "P3A" capable ones and later 2020s and who knows if some discs today will display on them even with richer color than you can see on them today when you get an even wider gamut monitor. (Or maybe studios will remaster them saying, "Now with deeper 2020 colors!" for that 20-dipping )

Also Batman-y films probably get an enhanced experience with the usual 4KHDR high contrast, deeper shadows made darker by brighter, sharper highlights, etc.

We've seen other DC animated movies get Rs, but they were borderline R/PG-13 movies which just accepted whatever rating came down.

But seems like this one is going full hard R, as it is rated R for strong bloody violence throughout, sexual content, brief graphic nudity and some drug material.

warner bros is a joke. mature stories coupled with the animation effort of a 90s tv show. god forbid they fork over the extra money to make it look decent
