PS-3 settles in as #3

It's #3 now but I have little doubt it will become at least #2 at the end of its life cycle when the other consoles have already moved on to newer tech.

Technically the PS3 had been #2 for most of 2008, until the September price drop of the 360.
We are talking classic consoles of course, not including handhelds.

Now, if like I suspect (and is rumored) the PS3 drops in price to $299 between April and July, 2009 could be a very different story.
If Sony waits for fall/winter 2009, it will probably be too late to regain a #2 position this being said, but who knows?

But until then, and probably even with the strong game lineup that seems to be coming for 2009, #3 will have to do.

Months ago I thought Sony should drop the PS3 price for the Christmas season but they did not so now they are reaping what they sowed. Hope they now know what to do in 2009

In 1 to 2 years the Xbox 360 will be obsolete.

DVD9 format... lol.

Well in 2 years it'll be 2011 and I assume that the xbox720 will be out by then (or at least on it's way).

I REALLY hope that Sony doesn't realease a new system for a while still though. I'm perfectly fine with the PS3.

Kind of sad when the best system with the best software hands down has sold the least amount of hardware and the system with the weakest software has sold the most by far.

Price is a big obstacle, especially in this economy.

Compared to the drive in the ps3 it is obsolete. It still looks remarkably good to me though.

ctually its not funny at all. See, Microsoft for once played it smart by not integrating the HD-DVD and given the consumer an OPTION to purchase the accessory while Sony forced the Blu-Ray. Don't get me wrong, Blu-Ray is a wonderful accessory but for a lot of people an addition not needed right now.

Microsoft got bashed with Red of Death but quickly turned around and addressed the issue by extending the warranty.

I believe if Sony had released a PS3 w/o a blu-ray drive, they would be number 2, plus the lack of exclusive titles isn't helping either.

Its the price that drives consumers, not the features. The PS3 is too expensive and this recession isn't helping either.

It'll be a little while before Sony drops the price and with the price drop of stand alone blu-ray players, it might be too little too late.

a dozen articles talk good about hddvd and 360 and they are laughed at and said they were paid shills

It's expected given the fanbase, I just find it funny any bad articles posted quickly get locked or requested to be closed.

I don't want to leave because I get enjoyment out of being here and learning.

But to be honest, there is rarely anything posted about the 360 here. It's against the TOS to make topics about the 360 here. I did a quick scan of the first 3 pages on this board and there is not 1 topic title referencing the 360.

If you want to discuss the 360, you'll have to go to another forum. You are in the minority here (as an avid 360 fan I mean) because this is a PS3 board.
