Default Is it time for all games to drop in price?

Is it time for next gen games to go back to last gen prices? With the current global economic downturn and many games going on sale for $10 less just weeks after release, should they lower the price of all new released for next gen games?

personally I think all multiplatform games should be last gen price, don't have a problem buying Sony exclusives tho, more cash... better games. *shrugs*

If disaster struck and LBP were suddenly unavailable worldwide and someone held my copy for ransom of $100, I would probably pay it.

...then I'd put my tall boots on, kick him in the face, and take my money back. But anyhoo...some games are well worth the cost for the many hours of entertainment they provide.

I don't think that the price of games is too unreasonable. If I can't wait a couple of weeks for sales then I deserve to pay the premium for the game.

over in the UK,most of the high street retailers are selling all the games at half price - they are rotating the titles on a weekly basis
I have bought far too many to play in one go but should keep me busy until Resi 5

I have had my PS3 for 5 months and have only bought one game, and I dont see myself buying any games anytime soon beacuse of the price on them. I bought it more for the blu ray player and for Tekken 6. But I gamefly, so I rent them beat them and send them back for 17 a month.

I think games should be priced on how good they are. Paying $60 for short game, or an old game that was just ported is pretty crappy. But i have no prob paying 60 bucks for games like lbp.

Anyone would want prices to be cheaper, but I also have no problem with the current pricing, if you're smart about the games you buy, it's quite reasonable to spend $60 for it (even smarter if you find a sale).

I wait a few weeks/months now to get games I want... by that time the prices on ebay, etc. are down to around $50. The only game on the horizon that I'll pay the full $60 on day 1 is Resident Evil 5.

$60 was way too much for COD4 when I bought it but I've gotten 10X that back in play time...Prices are high but I can tolerate it like in this case.

Most games weren't worth buying at full price when MSRP was $49.99. Adding $10 to the price just makes me even more selective.

40 bucks should be the launch price... but wont until people stop paying 60 for them.

Honestly, most games are on sale for $50 the week of launch anyway. People who pay MSRP are paying too much to begin with and probably will pay anything so I don't see any need to reduce it although I guess it would mean the intro price is even lower...

yes! especially now that downloadable content is almost a guarantee for every game! they should lower the price and then charge for the extra content, not sell for $60 then charge for downloadable content. I am tired of game companies deliberately leaving out content from games so that they can charge us again for the content

Yup and trust me that the artists and programmers work extremely hard and sometimes don't get paid accordingly.

Wow anyone who is middle+ can afford it. Admittedly, games aren't worth that much though.
