Default LG c7 OLED 55inch calibration settings for 4k.

Hi guys

I have just got a LG c7 and was wondering if some one who has this tv also could help me on settings for 4k ànd blueray do you use the same setting for both contents or different settings for each and if you do use 2 different settings do they both save on the tv separately. My current settings for 4k is picture mode is cinema home. OLED light 100 contrast 100 brightness 50 colour 50 sharpness 20 colour temp warm 2. Dynamic contrast low for active her. Colour gamet auto. Black level low. Now for blueray I havnt done any changes yet as I didn't know if the 4k settings stayed the same for blueray I love this tv I have it hooked up to a Sony x800 4k player any help would be great thanks.

It's a good starting point, then tweak as needed.

On the rtings site it doesn't show much about hdr calibration but shows more about normal television mode or am I looking at this wrong. Thanks for the help so far.

I used that very link to form a basis of my c7s settings then tweaked as needed to fit my lighting and personal prefs. Works great as a starting point for those of us not having pro calibration done.

I would make sharpness 0 and brightness 46, but a lot of it is personal preference.

Personally I have brightness at 49 to get darker blacks as I wasn't getting perfect blacks where they are expected (tried various movies). Sharpness isn't very aggressive IMO so i have it around 15-20. DC on low as well, and most other settings are the same. I adjusted more settings on my UHD player as well

This is using the cinema preset with HDR

I went with 46 based on the opening scene of HP1, otherwise the blacks were blown out. But I don't think there really is a "right" answer.

I would leave the player sharpness settings at their default and select Original Resolution. I wouldn't personally want any additional processing but that's entirely up to you. The X800 does a great job of handling well mastered/authored blu ray discs without much tinkering.

Cinema Home seems to be a simplified version of the Cinema mode for people without the ability to calibrate. Maxing the warmness on the color temperature setting (W50) seems close to the Warm2 setting of the Cinema mode. I use 100/100 OLED Light/Contrast for HDR10, 50/100 for Dolby Vision, Brightness 49 or 48 since I was getting too many not-really-true-black title/credits sequences on Netflix.

Not sure what to do about the active HDR, I don't really trust it, need to do some more tests.

The biggest difference between HDR and regular SDR modes is the OLED Light/Contrast. If you have it at 100/100 in SDR your screen will be crazy bright. I use 95/60, you can also do it the other way around with a low OLED Light and high contrast, but I seemed to be getting more aggressive ABL that way.

It's pretty confusing stuff for sure.

I based the set up of my C7 off the following. Everyone's tastes are different as are their viewing habits but based on these settings i'm quite happy. I use the ISF modes for non HDR content (blu-ray, streaming etc).

Imaging Science Foundation, basically the modes are designed for professional calibrators to set-up TVs to strict guidelines so you achieve the most accurate picture possible.

I read on AV forums that for LG sets, a sharpness setting of 10 is actually 0, lowering it below 10 makes the image softer. So best left at 10 if you want a zero setting. But it's all about what each viewer feels is right for them.
