I wasn't sure if this was the forum I should post this in but this is huge news to me.
Redbox announced today they will start renting 4K Blu-ray titles! https://www.soundandvision.com/conte...out-4k-rentals Last edited by marine92104; 01-10-2018 at 10:02 PM. |

Awesome.
Now instead of just never buying movies I'm not sold on, I might like them enough after a rental to buy. The way it's been, stuff like King Arthur and Dark Tower I didn't even want to rent the regular BD, because it felt like a waste to not see them in UHD. |

This will help keep Redbox afloat a bit longer. UHD streaming is so compressed and the 4k discs themselves are pricey to buy. I'm very interested in physically renting 4k discs to test them out before buying. It's about time they did this. Should have been much sooner.

Yes! I think I’m one of the few left that still use Redbox! Heck, helps prevent some bad blinds for only $1 (sometimes nearly free). They are all around me so I don’t go out of my way either.
Good news! |

"At the Digital Entertainment Group’s (DEG) CES party last evening, redbox announced it would begin a rollout of UltraHD Blu-ray disc rentals starting in some test markets. There was no mention of which markets would be selected – or how many of them would be included – just that the UltraHD trial would begin in markets that already show a strong interest in Blu-ray disc rental." Always wondered why Netflix doesn’t find a way to add sort of a “pay per view” selection of newer releases not included in their regular lineup. Am I the only one finding their releases to be lacking for awhile? Once I finish Stranger Things I may cancel and just check out what’s available in a few months. The new movies added each month are nothing big.
