I sincerely hope Fox goes with the first poster of them on the steps; that is just too lazy to be lazy.

Talking THE POST is another triumph for director Steven Spielberg

I saw THE POST on the day it opened nationwide (January 12), and I loved it!

Of course, I love anything directed by Steven Spielberg (even his films that flop with the critics and the box-office), and this got a lot of outstanding reviews from major critics, so to me, it ranks up there as one of his best!

Here's how many stars I would give it:

Saw this and I loved it, too. Tom Hanks was at the top of his game. Meryl Streep was good, but not stellar, IMO.

Her acting is the same what ever the role. Just the dialog varies.
Good movie none the less.

United Kingdom Aspect ratio?!

Have any of you guys seen this theatrically? Seems everywhere I've read the aspect is 1.85:1 Flat (pretty common for Spielberg), yet I saw it last week theatrically in 2.39:1 scope!

Strange, it's 1.85:1, yes.

It's definitely a 1.85 title, and the screen I saw it on moved their masking in for both this and The Shape of Water a few weeks earlier. It's possible on a scope screen without masking, they decided to crop the title in order to fill the screen and avoid pillarboxing (this is how I saw American Made, another 1.85 title, for instance).

Actually just realized, 6/9 of the Best Picture nominees this year are 1.85 despite it being the less popular ratio. And only Get Out and Three Billboards are scope (Dunkirk is either 2.20, or alternating 2.20 and IMAX depending on where you see it).

I'll be severely disappointed if that cover art isn't temporary.

It will probably be the final cover. Not sure what else could be used.

Do we have a release date for this yet? The other Oscar nominees (3BB, Lady Bird, Shape of Water etc.) are all out in the next few weeks, so it can't be far away.

I think the first poster was one of the year's best. But, alas, it has no headshots of the big stars, so it probably won't be used.

Yeah, the poster won't be used since studios want heads on covers.

Fox takes their sweet time in announcing blu-rays. This and Greatest Showman still haven't been announced while everything that came out in December has. Three Billboards was just announced a month ago.

There's still time. They'll announce them about a month out, which is common for major releases.

Next week.

At least that artwork is better than the dreadful placeholder artwork they released first. The placeholder artwork was used on a bunch of bus advertising here in LA, and I've seen the final artwork used as the overseas poster. I still love the original teaser, but we were never gonna get that as BD packaging, too subtle.
