I held out and didn't see it until 2 weeks ago. I figured if anything justified a blind buy it would be this movie. I think my expectations were too high. It was okay...not terrific.

Nope, it blew me away. In fact, it was even better than the hype for me. Ledgers Joker was oustanding.

I wasn't all that impressed either. It wont' say it was bad, but I have no desire to see it again. I thought "Batman Begins" was a much better film.

I liked it a lot as well. However, I don't think it's the greatest movie in the world. Was a day 1 buy for me but just not a "masterpiece" as people make it out to be.

oh youve gone and done it now, prepare to feel the wrath of the fanboys!

but really, i am kind on the same page with you, i thought it was a good movie; well written, directed, and acted, but from the multiple cinematic orgasms everybody seemed to be having on the internet and such, it just didnt quite live up to the expectation, which i attribute much to the passing of heath ledger. i am not saying it was bad, just didnt live up to the hype, thats all...

The first time I saw it at the theaters, I thought it was in my top 3 favorite films of all time. Of course, this was just hype and excitement after seeing it for the first time.

Upon repeated viewings, it's easy to pick out a lot of flaws in the story and for that reason, I see "The Dark Knight" as a very good film, but not the masterpiece some or claiming it to be.

I really enjoyed the movie, but to me, the main appeal is Ledger. He's just incredible. I try to picture the movie without him and when I do, I realize it wouldn't have been a good movie without him.

By the way, "Batman Begins" is superior in my opinion (and in my top 5) and I can watch that over and over again, but I can't do the same for "Dark Knight." Too many little things in "Knight" just drop the score for me...

It was one of the most hyped movies and even more so due to the death of Ledger.

With that said I still loved every minute of it. Near perfect acting, directing, editing, etc. It deserves to be Best Picture of 2008.

I laughed at some of The Jokers sarcastic jokes but its not a movie I can watch repeatedly. In fact, The IMAX scenes were outstanding and didn't show any grain according to my tv (32" Sharp Aquos 1080p).

I liked it too. I think if it wasnt for the joker it wouldnt have been as good. Ledger made the movie for me!

It actually passed my expectations too. Everything about it was near perfection and while I do see slight problems upon repeated viewings, it still is my favourite movie of 08 and in my top 3 of all time. Ledger will brilliant, Nolan's direction was amazing especially in the chase sequence. Plus, some scenes were just so outstanding, the intergration between Batman and Joker was haunting and of course, MAGIC TRICK

I do agree, some of it is a little over-hyped. I enjoyed TDK but not in the same category as so many have. I saw it once in theaters, did not get it on the first day when release on BD and watched it once so far. It will be a multi watch for me (more then 5 times a year) that is why I bought it but I still think Batman Begins was a better movie. But Heath Ledger was very good as the Joker. As comic book movies went I prefered Iron Man in 2008 before TDK.
