the only deal i've ever seen at an fye is the mail in rebate deals they have on dvds.

Of course it's not a chick flick. That's because it's a TWICK FLICK.

What does that mean, you might ask? It means that it's a flick that is 5000% geared towards the "tween chick" demographic. They just so happen to be benefitting from all of the spill over from teen guys who are blinded by hormones and the occasional adult that is misled by the advertising as to what they can expect.

'Twilight' had better come nowhere near 'The Dark Knight' for final numbers. There is an entire universe of quality between the two productions. 'The Dark Knight' handles 'Twilight' like Kimbo would handle Gary Coleman in a wrestling match!

For me, 'Twilight' was the worst movie of the year. I enjoyed it less than 'Meet The Spartans.' And I didn't enjoy 'Meet The Spartans' AT ALL!

MY REVIEW OF 'Meet The Spartans'
Quote:
There used to be a time when spoof films had a modicum of respect for their source material. Those days have officially been retired.

The movie ‘300’ is an epic legend in filmmaking. ‘Meet the Spartans’ is an epic FAILURE in, what I am assuming is supposed to be, filmmaking. I don’t even know where to begin in shredding this title down to the very childhood trauma that inspired its very conceptualization. Watching ’Meet the Spartans’ is such a bad experience that I feel I am wasting even more time on it just by expunging on how bad it is with this review! There is absolutely no good reason why this 87 minutes of footage should exist. Hell, even the sensual hip gyrations and sex appeal of Carmen Electra doesn’t give this any lee-way from my wrath… and that’s saying A LOT!

Firstly, the film relies extremely heavily upon a homoerotic theme for its comedic follow-through. In fact, it is so dependent on the homoerotic element that after the first 10 minutes it becomes predictable to the point of being lame. I can understand the opportunity to call on historical fact about the lifestyles of Spartan warriors, but to do so in such a predictably repetitive manner is much more counter-productive to the intention. Also counter-productive to the intention of the film is the mish-mash of pop culture references used in the film. The incorporation of such pop culture phenomenon as Britney Spears, American Idol, Dancing With The Stars, Deal Or No Deal, Paris Hilton, Transformers, Shrek, Lindsay Lohan, Casino Royale, Grand Theft Auto, Happy Feet, Spiderman (and the list goes on), the film is clearly too disjointed to be taken seriously as a comedy. Anything that couldn’t possibly take place within the environment of ‘300’ should not have been used as comedic fodder.

The acting is bad. The directing is bad. And the writing is atrocious. The jokes, whether they are rooted in pop culture or homoeroticism, are all pathetic… ok, maybe not ALL pathetic. The “visual effect” gag and the spoof slow-motion shot from ‘300’ are alright I guess. But, they aren’t funny and they certainly don’t make the film worthy of watching.

Now this is the ultimate dilemma with regards to this title. Like many of you out there reading this, I heard that the film was a horrendous pile of steaming hot pachederm dung. And, that being the case, thought to myself, “Wow! It can’t be THAT bad. I have to see for myself what all of the commotion is about.” And, after reading this review, you may feel the same way. In most cases (99% of the time) I would challenge the readers to judge it for themselves because my tastes will obviously vary from others. However, that will not be the case with ‘Meet the Spartans.’ Trust me on this one. Don’t bother with any curiosities that you might have. This is one title that isn’t even worth your time if it is free!

Crave Factor - 1
AAAAAAH! MY EYES ARE BURNING!!! There is no Crave Factor option for a ZERO rating???

I think you're completely off base. Have you seen the movie? Did you look around in the theatre when you were there? Notice alot of 25 year old dudes did you? I saw guys there like me, who were drug there by our ladyfriends, but i did not see any contingent of 20-something males with Edward foam fingers and Twilight beer bongs.

To be fair to my F.Y.E., it did have a ton of used blurays with some decent prices. I have to keep that in mind when i'm purchasing. Not trying to rag on the store, it just seemed to be ur typical cookie cutter mall store and the prices on new blus were insane.

maybe that's why mine has such good prices then. the f.y.e. i shop at is not at a mall. it's actually in the ritzy part of town in its own location. are most f.y.e. stores in the mall? i know sam goody's weren't always in the mall. and those locations had better prices.

If this was a college message board or a Hannah Montana board yes. I read the first chapter on Amazon to see what the hype was and honestly I think Twilight is one of the worst books ever written. Everyone should have something published if this author does.
I asked girls why these books are so great and all they can say is, " These are magical books where you feel the feeling of true love as your prince sweeps you way." More Disney BS to make girls/women believe a prince charming is coming to sweep them away.
Side note, the lead actor looks like a vampire with Down Syndrome.

Hey, just a minute there. What's wrong with a forty year old(almost) dating a twenty-something?

Yeah it totally does not revolve around a teenage girl who is in love with a boy, who happens to be a vampire...I guess the fact that he is a vampire means its not a chick flick?
