They are probably producing them at overseas authoring facilities. Pretty much the U.S. facilities found space to book Uni product after they began supporting Blu Ray. From what I understand there are limited facilities that produce BD 50 discs.

If it's a different studio doing the releasing, which it most likely is, they may have already reserved BD-50's for the titles. Since Universal was the last studio to support Blu-Ray, they weren't able to get as many BD-50's as other studios.

No it's not. It's Universal worldwide.

Spanish site zonadvd has released the specs for the European edition. Indeed, it will have all the bonus materials of the DVD and HD DVD, and even some in HD.

For those interested in the UK version, it not only includes all the extras but the encode is better.
