Default Anyone combine dvds together for certain movies?

Such as combining the old Ben Affleck Daredevil regular theatrical dvd with the directors cut dvd together in one dvd case?

All the time.

Both Azumi movies.
Both Epoch movies.
All the Project A-Ko movies.
Both versions of the Stepford Wives.
Both White Noise movies (although I plan on parting with them).
A few animes--The Humanoid, NeoTokyo, Battle Angel all in one case.
The End of Evangelion is mixed in with my NGE series discs.

I also have a few DVDs mixed with Blu-Rays: The Van Helsing cartoon with the movie, the WarGames DTV sequel with the original, and stuff like that.

I will also combine editions into one, usually more for Blu-Rays. I do have some mixed things, like the Waterworld extended cut on DVD together with the Blu-Ray (theatrical cut only).

Whatever it takes to save shelf space.

I've done some things along this line. Including, but not limited to taking a Blu-Ray only edition of a movie that I already have on DVD, swapping the Blu-Ray case out for one that holds two discs, and putting the DVD in it, too, making my own combo pack.

Like Dynamo, once I thought, "I'm a collector, I can do whatever I want", I've made my own combos.

Blu-ray without extras + DVD with extras, Kill Bill 1 & Kill Bill 2 together with my own printed artwork, I've even added a slipcover from a different release / different art (Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter lenticular slip over the regular release).

It's part of making my collection unique.

Daredevil movie is easy for me to combine in one DVD case since its just the regular theatrical release DVD and then the Directors Cut DVD.. Boom. Ultimate Edition of Daredevil movie.

But then it gets a little crazy if youre trying to do it with comic book movies or trying to give snapcase movies better DVD cases like Eight Legged Freaks

Yep. I do it the way that the lazy, greedy, scumbag companies SHOULD have done it. I have 3 disc combo packs (1 blu, 2 DVDs with TONS of extras) of Swiss Family Robinson, The Love Bug, Old Yeller (looking forward to The Parent Trap and 20,000 Leagues) and pretty much every other blu ray where the lazy bastards couldn't be bothered to port over the extras. Why rely on them? They have let us down over and over again. I know, I know, its a marketing decision. So release that barebones edition for 9$ (The Burbs) then release the Collectors edition for more (we will pay it) and at least give us the option. Yes, I am talking to you Disney....

When movies that I really like have multiple cuts, I retain the different versions. And when a special edition DVD has extras that aren't included on the blu, I'll keep both as well. Now I don't do this for every movie I own, just the ones that I really like. Otherwise, it could probably turn into overkill pretty easily.

Before I go overboard with them, anything that the blu rays of Iron Man 2 and Wolverine Origins don't have for bonus features that the DVDs have , vice versa?

I know that Donnie Darko is going to be a challenge for me

Not only do I combine the two into 1, if it had a nice soundtrack I also throw the music CD in there too. Just a few of my combos:
Forrest Gump
Friday
The Lost Boys
Stand By Me
Grease

I've done this with the Incredibles. Before I bought it on blu ray, I had the 2 disc special edition DVD. Once I got the blu ray, the 4 disc original release, I swapped out the DVD and digital copy discs for my 2 disc DVD set.

If I already have the disc with the additional bonus features, I will keep it, because I doubt I'll get more than a dollar for it anyway. But if I really like the movie, I will buy outdated versions for the extra bonus features.

Since most BDs come in dual disc cases including DVDs, which I rarely keep, combining like movies, like the original and remakes of Point Break, has been an integral part of making room on my shelves for years. Thanks for mentioning DD. Elektra should be a good one to pair with it, that I'll be able to easily remember where I put it.

The CGI-animated series War Planets/Shadow Raiders (and it's 26 episodes) were originally released across 6 DVDs (each in it's own DVD case) by ADV Films.

I combined all 6 DVDs into one DVD case (of similar size to the ADV originals). Saves lots of shelf space!

I plan other similar combination projects in the near future.

Oh, yeah, I had to buy either a 10- or 12-disc case to put all of my Time-Life "Best of the Muppet Show" discs in. (There are 15 in total, but several of them have episodes which are available in better quality on the season releases; I forget what the final count is exactly.) That saved a lot of space. There are a few shows like that -- I stuck all the Mr. Show discs (including the movie) into one 7 disc case.

The Pink Panther 2 Blu-ray is a 3 Disc case and it's all over Dollar Tree!

I bought 4 of 'em! And there was still a bunch left.

One of them I put the Empire Records Blu-ray in with the Original DVD & The Fan Remix DVD. My own Blu-ray + DVD + DVD Combo!

Yes. Yes I have. Best example is The Terminator. The DVD had many extra features that aren't on the Blu-ray, so the DVD became a bonus disc.

You can get 6 disc cases that are almost the same size as regular UK cases. That's where my Mission Impossible set is (for now)

From Hell bluray with the bonus disc of the two disc dvd set. Same with Fire and Ice from Blue Underground. This was back when Best Buy was offering five bucks for dvds to trade up to bluray. I did this with a few other releases but can’t remember which ones.
