I just watched The Dark Knight and there were no menus and no resume playback on this film. I had to stop my movie half way through ...(wow, imagine that)....and upon wanting to resume the next day, I had to skip through each chapter until I got to my spot. Why? Why are the simple things being taken from us blu-ray users? It's common sense to me. But others rub it off like it's nothing.

So no one cares about the resume playback feature slowly disappearing. Well I do and I think it's ridiculous because the average person today has to stop and start films alot. Losing my place if I have to shut off the player as well. These were simple things that were taken away for some reason with the bd-j format

Sure all WB discs are like that, but I personally find it annoying. Why does WB have to do it different from everyone else? I like to have a real menu on my movies. I think it's just WB being cheap because they don't want to design cool menus. WB always has to find some annoying way to be different from all other studios-- snappers, poor audio, no menus.

That is one of the reasons I refuse to buy any Blu-ray discs from Warner. The other reason is because of Warner's refusal to support HD audio on all their discs.
Big Daddy does not have any plans to buy The Dark Knight. I have seen it in the theater and I may rent it from Netflix, but I will not buy it until Warner abandons its stupidity. ![]() ![]() |

It wouldn't be so bad if they at least defaulted to the HD audio track... Anyway my signature says it all. |

#1. Is it really that difficult to remember the approximate timecode where you left off? And if I had to stop a movie for whatever reason, I respect the artists enough to start it from scratch when I get the chance again... expecially since movies aren't TV episodes. They aren't created to be watched in installments. #2. I bet that you didn't change the audio setting to watch the film with the Dolby TrueHD track either, did you? Their discs default to Dolby Digital 5.1 even when a lossless HD track is available. These are such small inconveniences in my opinion that I would rather expend those energies making sure that my fingernails are the right length! BTW, This thread topic has been discussed in at least 5 other threads!!! ![]() |

1. Your attention is distracted from the first 10 seconds of the movie while changing audio track. 10 seconds isn't much but it's 10 seconds that you shouldn't have to miss. You don't miss those 10 seconds at cinemas! 2. Switching the audio track causes a momentary drop-out. This can interrupt the opening music cue and is unacceptable. If there was an audio dropout on a disc there'd be 1000s of people crying for a recall. Why is a disc fault bad but a forced user-generated drop-out is okay? 3. How many people won't even know to change the track? There's nothing in the box to remind people that they have to fiddle around during a WB movie but not, for example, a Disney movie. This is sloppy handling by Warner Bros. who should know better. Clearly it was thought up in a board room and not by people who actually watch movies! This really needs to be resolved.
