WTF! No Silicon Valley S3 UK release either... Why Warner? Why?

With the exception of Ballers & Girls they appear to have given comedy's DVD only. You'd think they would, at the very least, allow the final season of Girls to get a BD release (unlike Eastbound and Down).

At least importing US releases of HBO titles is an option for no just those with Region A playability.

US releases of HBO discs are Region Free* (even though they always have an "A" logo on the back).

*The only exception I have come across is Deadwood, which had Paramount involved.

Default Australian Blu-Ray TV in dire straits?

I guess the problem is comedy will probably sell okay on DVD or digital as not really core BD buying demographic.

They are probably continuing with Ballers on BD as that has The Rock and features American Football both appealing to heavy BD buying males.

Girls who like Girls are stereotypically lighter BD buyers hence cost cutting by HBO not releasing outside US.

Sorry for any confusion.

Girls did get BD releases across Aussie/UK/US markets. I am just hoping they don't pull the plug on BD for that title (being that the last season is finishing up now and a BD for the final season should be out soon).

If Girls can still get a BD release in Jan for UK/US (Dec for AU), then I am really surprised they wouldn't continue with Silicon Valley for S3.

Fingers crossed Girls S6 (Final season) will get a BD release. Otherwise, it would be an insult to collectors who bought S1-5 on BD.

I've recently had to go to Amazon UK to get Peaky Blinders season 3. Picked up the boxset of seasons 1-3 and sold my Australian releases of the first two seasons. Worked out cheaper. Also picked up seasons 1-3 of Ripper Street as over here you can only get one and two. Season four of Ripper Street has been released in the UK but they seem to be dragging the chain with season five's release; it had better be coming by God.

Another great series that has been largely ignored on BD is TURN: Washington's Spies.

On a side note, was also going to pick up the Heat remaster from the UK but Amazon but it's currently only available to Amazon Prime members at a respectable price; a disgustingly cynical attempt to force people into streaming no doubt. For shame Amazon! For shame!

With distributors failing to release Silicon Valley S3 on BD in Australia (now only available in US) and with Veep S5 BD coming out in US last week; reminding me we got only S1 on BD (and I will have to import the rest) ... All is not lost.

Thanks to Madman, we will be getting The Kettering Incident on BD in a few weeks (and the first Foxtel series since Wentworth to go to BD).

An Aussie Sci-Fi series, which will be a day one buy for me (as was Cleverman).

And thanks should go to the ABC for their recent TV on BD releases as well: eg. Cleverman, Tomorrow When The War Began, and most recently, Newton's Law.

Hope ABC follows suit with some more releases... Some mini-series perhaps? Plus, more Foxtel series on BD.
Would have loved to have bought Deadline Gallipoli (Foxtel), but sadly, 'twas DVD only.
Damn you DVD! Damn you all to hell!

July is shaping up as a great month for TV on BD in OZ.
Homeland S6, Girls S6 (Final Season), Grimm S5, Prison Break S5 and last but not least, the hotly anticipated American Gods S1.

With the exception of Twin Peaks being re-released on DVD only ahead of the series return... Perhaps the tide has turned and TV on BD is in a better place. Moved out of dire straits and TV is ready for smoother sailing. Only time will tell.

Another TV title on Blu-Ray in Australia bites the dust.

If you have been collecting/watching Bates Motel on BD for S1-3. Well, now, you have a choice in Australia of DVD or DVD for S4.
Title is releaesed on Aug 2nd and there is no BD in sight.

If you want to import from US, BD is Region Free (I imported it last year).

UK, Germany, France: All got BD releases as well. Don't understand why Australia wouldn't.

Frack you Universal. I expected better from you...
Only had S4 and S5 to go (S5 is the final season). Yet another TV series initially BD, then DVD only.

Well, this explains why I've been waiting for about 2 or 3 months for JB-HiFi to get Season 2 in for me. And yet, they're still advertising it on their site... This country sure does suck sometimes. Oh well, I got the UK version of Season 3 recently for a song, so I guess that's where I'll be buying them from.

I've actually stopped getting many TV series on Blu for this reason.

Got burned too many times:

Damages & Stargate Universe(although only one season was ever released in any region for these titles I believe)
Sanctuary - only two seasons released locally, last two only on DVD
Rectify - only two seasons on Blu, final two only on DVD.

Got all seasons of Girls for the wife, and three seasons of Hannibal for myself - didn't think they would happen!

Although originally listed on Amazon and other sites Warner have changed their mind ands it's now DVD only. If you check the database entry for S3 in UK the Amazon link is now dead.

Of the 4 planned HBO titles scheduled around now in UK only Ballers is still get a BD the others have all been changed by Warner to DVD only.
Fark! USA releases are region free I see, and they are still getting a S4 Blu release as well in September - unless that gets pulled as well.

I've got them in my amazon.com shopping basket waiting for the right time...

HBO wouldn't pull a BD release... So I'm sure Silicon Valley will still ship in September (got it on pre-order).
Once Veep finishes, will look to get the whole series from the US, as we only got S1 here

Besides, HBO is committed to the latest technology for home video physical media. There is a Westworld UHD release in November in the US. (Glad I held off on watching on Foxtel). I'm sure Australia will follow suit.
Plus, the great thing with UHD BD, you can't lose! 'Cos you can future proof, as it comes with a Blu-Ray copy as well.
Great to see UHD BD on TV and HBO leading the way. Much like ten and a half years ago, when HBO released The Sopranos S6Pt1 on BD.

For me, I've gone off TV on DVD.
If a TV series doesn't come to BD, I will boycott it...
I watched The Bridge S1 (US import), but as Fox only did a DVD release for S2, I've stopped watching.
Same with Archer...Have stopped watching at S6 (last BD release).

For now, I'm sticking to my guns. Although I've been told Bloodline is very good and I'd like to go past S1 of The Americans (only S1 on BD), I'm not going to go there...
Plenty of quality TV on BD; while owned, still yet to watch The Wire and Rome

Upscaled DVDs don't cut it (PQ is full of digital anamolies) and I can't stand PAL speedup (once you go 24fps, it's hard to go back).
I'm not going to waste my money on shitty old technology; and HD streaming only fairs a bit better, which I shan't be doing either.

Hence my mantra: Give me Blu-Ray or Give me death.

Just putting it out there now and hoping by some chance that ABC people are reading this thread
Season 5 of Rake has just been announced to air next year, here's hoping that they bring it out on Blu ray and not just DVD. I was pretty shocked when they brought season 4 out on blu, had a feeling they would revert to DVD after the first 3 seasons, but thankfully they didn't. So fingers crossed for another blu release in AUS

For anyone bemoaning the lack of Bates Motel, hit up Amazon UK. They just listed the completer set at a price that can only be an error, so grab it while you can.

Another HBO title we miss out on (DVD only).

Joins Show Me a Hero, Vice Principals S1 & Silicon Valley S4 as HBO titles that have only had DVD only here since 2016 (lest we forget that Veep S4, S5 & S6 were DVD only in that time as well; Although it’s been that way since S2 ).

Come on WB, pick up your game.

For those hoping Miami Vice would get a blu ray release here in Oz... It's not going to happen.
The DVD set is getting another re-release on the 01/11/17.

With the release on Blu in the UK and the US. I thought there may have been a slim chance of a local release... Nope!
I'll probably end up getting the UK set. Even though it has the black crush issues.
I tried to buy the US set but got one without the replacement discs. So I sent it back as Mill Creek won't send replacements outside the US.

Firstly, Australia misses out on Twin Peaks: The Limited Series on BD or DVD (for now), while just about every other major market got a release.

[Aye carumba! The Simpsons are being released on disc again, but it is on DVD only! WTF!.
And there is no option to import (worldwide DVD release only).
Frack you Fox! (There is no emoticon for what I am feeling).

Now I got to choose between going back to PAL speedup or the correct speed/pitch with a US title but with NTSC shudder.
I would boycott, but I am too much of a fan.

Here’s my rant on the US site for posterity:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...3#post14433953

I will simply finish with “Hey Fox! Eat-My-Shorts”

I'm holding my breath for Agents of SHIELD Season 4.
No announcements for either UK or Australia yet, so having doubts, since we were lucky to get season 3.

Your right there "Zombie Kermit"...It is lucky, and a surprise, that Agents of Shield went for 3 seasons on BD, considering the US network it airs on (ABC) is not a huge supporter of TV on Blu-Ray.

More bad news for Australian TV on Blu-Ray as another title bites the dust in Australia... And after 4 fracking seasons on BD no less!

The Chicago Fire S5 release next week is DVD only (S1-4 BD still available).

Sanity -
JB HiFi -

All the while, UK/Germany continue to get BD releases (at least importing from Amazon UK is a reasonable alternative):
