I don't get why some fans dwell so much on the potential of "fatigue" and "saturation". There's going to be a Star Wars movie every year no matter what, nothing can be done about that. It's out of your control except you can ignore them and not contribute to their box office. I'm enjoying the ride so far and will continue to do so for as long as I can. I'm not going to let cynicism and anxiety for what may happen many years down the line affect what's happening now.

3 films in 3 years has me no where near fatigued yet. And I feel they've kept it fresh so far with films that feel different, and the films have provided me with an unparalleled cinematic experience compared to the other current franchises. When it reaches the point where a new Star Wars movie no longer feels like a big deal then so be it. It won't affect my enjoyment of the Star Wars movies I love and it won't diminish the cultural and cinematic significance of the original movies.

All I really wanted was the Sequel Trilogy, the rest of this is just a delightful bonus for me. It's just like the Expanded Universe but instead of novels and comic books it's in cinematic form. It's not like they're just making Star Wars Episode X to infinity and dragging out the main Saga storyline every year. I'd feel differently if that were the case.

People complained Lucasfilm was relying too much on OT nostalgia and wanted them to do something completely new and disconnected to what we've already seen, well here we go.

the thing for me, the Star Wars universe is HUGE.....there is so much potential to see something new and different than what we've been shown already.

as long as there are new aliens and characters, the sky is the limit. that's what keeps me excited. no fatigue here.

The more Star Wars made by different people, the greater chance that some who didn't like certain parts will find something to enjoy. Something for everyone.

I don't get the "fatigue" comments, either. Most tv shows air between 13 and 22 stories per year, every year; nobody gripes about being "tired" of "having to" watch that many episodes. If two hours of Star Wars a year bores you, I'd say you ain't much of a fan in the first place. I'd be happy if they treated it like the MCU, bumped it up to three movies a year.

For me, its gotten to the point where apart from the basic style and the music, I barely recognize the franchise anymore. I sat through Rogue One, feeling the story was more pointless with every minute that dragged by. The Last Jedi had some good moments, but a lot of it blatantly contradicted The Force Awakens, which disappointed me a great deal. And now with Solo, they cast someone as Han who doesn't resemble Harrison Ford in the least, and is only five years younger than Ford was in 1977! To quote Threepio, "this is madness."

It might be helpful to remember that this fictional universe was conceived for children of all ages to have something fun to watch. Distill it down to that mentality and allow yourself to watch through young eyes. I'm not suggesting anyone turn off their brain, but really, would you be fatigued or complaining if you were 8 years old again?

I've been a fan since 1977.

But this is by far the greatest age ever for Star Wars, and I plan to enjoy the heck out of it.

The GoT guys are really good at world-building, long and complicated character arcs, making politics interesting, etc. This is so much better than their nightmarish "Confederate" thing. Hope that's dead....

I don't have MCU fatigue, and I certainly don't see myself having Star Wars fatigue. Maybe in 10 years I'll feel different (doubtful), but right now it's all good with me!

Infinity War will be the 19th movie in the MCU in 10 years. There are also 6 seasons of Marvel shows on Netflix and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is currently in its 5th season. There are also numerous similar genre movies and TV series from DC. Infinity War doesn't look to be affected by over saturation one bit.

Bring on more Star Wars. It's a big galaxy!

So, since the Disney takeover we've had....

2015 The Force Awakens
2016 Rogue One
2017 The Last Jedi

And already finished or in production are...

2018 Solo
2019 IX (which doesn't have a title yet as far as I know.)

After that things get kind of vague, but....

2020 Is an Obi-wan Kenobi movie in Dec. 2020 possible? Perhaps. If they are writing the screenplay now, and finish at the end of 2018, preproduction could happen in early 2019, filming in mid to late 2019, and a year of postproduction could get it to the theaters in 2020 for a December release. Seems possible.

2021 By December is it possible that the first new Rian Johnson trilogy movie could happen? I'm thinking yes. He's probably writing it now, but won't need to be done with writing the first screenplay with his team and mapping out the other two until the end of 2019, which gives him two years. Time enough imho in this new Kathleen Kennedy hyperspace Star Wars world.

2022 And here's where maybe we might see the first Star Wars movies by the GoT guys? Seems potentially possible, if it's a December release....That's almost 5 years from now.

david benioff résumé is such shit besides games of thrones, which success can be contributed to it it having already existing fleshed out in novel form. seriously, Stay is one of the worst movies i've seen. Troy and Wolverine: Origins had some really embarrassing dialogue. I rather have those games lucasARTS cancelled than a han solo movie or any more of this nonsense

Nothing in TLJ contradicted The Force Awakens.

Kind of surprising that the same person would make both of the above claims.

TLJ only contradicts their head canon. No Superhero Luke, no Jedi Princess Rey, and Snoke is just another dead f**k.

Rumor: Women & People of Color Are Developing Star Wars Movies

Quote:
Franklin Leonard, founder of The Black List, tweeted he has heard rumors that Lucasfilm hired “multiple women and people of color to write and direct Star Wars films,” but the studio kept it a secret. The Tracking Board‘s Jeff Sneider backed up the rumors, confirming he’d heard the same, but did not indicate which writers and directors had been tapped. Sneider additionally speculates the reason Lucasfilm hasn’t made the hirings public is because the studio is unsure whether the projects will move forward

Sneider posits that two people Disney may have discreetly hired to work in a galaxy far, far away are filmmakers the studio has worked with before and who are currently promoting major releases: Black Panther helmer/co-writer Ryan Coogler and A Wrinkle in Time director Ava DuVernay. Sneider additionally reports he heard at the time of DuVernay being hired for A Wrinkle in Time that it was “a test-run of sorts, to prove she could handle a nine-figure budget and deliver a box office hit.” With box office estimates for Black Panther currently indicating the film will be a success, and Disney continuing to build the hype for A Wrinkle in Time, it’s likely both will be hits, which could lead to announcements of Coogler and DuVernay’s involvement in Star Wars films – if these rumors turn out to be true.

Wouldn't mind a Spike Lee directed Star Wars movie, just to shake things up.
