Default PS3 Remote

Does anyone here switch off their controllers while watching DVD/BD movies on their PS3? Or does it hardly take away battery life if you leave it on? Is there an option to make it automatically turn itself off? I think the XBOX does this. Not sure...

I usually turn the PS3 on with the Blu-ray remote when watching a movie so I don't need to turn off the SIXAXIS controller but if I've already been using the SIXAXIS I do turn it off. While turned on I think it uses the same amount of power whether you're interacting with it or not so I'd recommend turning it off if you want to recharge less often.

The PS3 Blu-Ray remote will shut itself off after a (short) period of inactivity. It then wakes itself up upon the next button press.

But does the SIXAXIS switch itself off after a while? Am I wasting battery power by leaving it on during DVD's and BD's. (I don't have a BD remote)

Yes it stays on, they must have not felt the need to have it turn it self off cause it is rechargeable, the 360 controlers don't come rechargeable, so I am sure people who buy batteries would really be ticked when it drained them well not playing.

it won't shut off automatically . I hated using it as a remote. my wife's cat would bump it and with the new R2 and L2 buttons configuration it would start fast forwarding. that got annoying.
