I just saw this in the backroom at my work.
What a nice surprise to see it as a digi-book.
And a thicker one too, much like The Exorcist.

Well, I just watched this last night and I thought it looked gorgeous for an 82 year old movie. The mono track even sounded pretty good during the battle scenes.

I just watched this (the talkie version) and to my taste, they went too far with the DNR. It seems like the powers that be at Universal are still pretty bothered by film grain. But with the derth of old movies on blu-ray, I rather have this than nothing.

"Dracula" seemed to look quite great on the featurette about restoration.

Picked this up yesterday and put it on last night not really knowing what to expect. Very, very presently surprised! The DNR police are going to snort milk out their noses but this is a remarkable restoration and Universal deserves kudos on this one. And Kudos to the reviewer as well! For a 1930 production this looks remarkably good and where there are the occasional acting 'flares' they simply enhance the sense of time and place. This is in fact in a sense a time-travel experience. This is only ten years after all after the actual events (ok, twelve, for the purists) and the depictions of events and attention to detail are authentic.

The battle scenes are phenomenal, comparable to those in "A Very Long Engagement" and as mentioned the sound quality, with a little bass augmentation and treble-reduction is unbelievable for a mono track of this period. With a good sound system the room will shake at the crescendo of some of the artillary barrages.

And I'm not a fanatic when it comes to packaging, except that it has to be in immaculate condition but this digi-book presentation is very pleasing and contains posters and fascinating correspondance from the time of production. A great addition to my modest library!

I watched my UK copy last night, and thought it looks and sounds great for a movie of this vintage. Still one of my three favorite movies. I must have seen it around 15 times and it still has impact.

I just got this today and I think this digibook is one of the best I have ever seen. Not a bad page in it anywhere. Here are some sample pages:

Anyone successful at getting this from Amazon today for $10.99? I followed the link from Blu-ray.com and saw the price on Amazon revert back to $21.99 after a page refresh.

I just bought the UK blu ray but there is no silent version to be found....? I have the normal version, not the digi-book. The silent version is not included on this edition? What a bummer....

Anyone ever see the restored version of the Road Back, the 1937 sequel? Library of Congress restored the supposedly original version back in 2016 that Universal had screwed up to placate Nazis. https://www.loc.gov/item/event-39489...37/2019-04-27/

Yes - I saw this at MoMA. It's interesting but not a patch on the original film.
