Default How long did your LCD/LED tv last?

I still have a Panasonic 32 inch tv upstairs in the bedroom, had it since 2007, so 11 years now, still going strong, picture very basic but does its job.

Downstairs I have a Samsung D8000 3D 40 inch LED from 2011, so 7 years now, that still looks great but do want to upgrade but I think its still too early to do so.

Only downside of my Samsung is that the Smart Hub is rubbish, and very very slow but to be fair I hardly ever use it so doesn't bother me. I was going to upgrade this week but didn't do it because I felt Micro LED (mled) is the next big thing to look into but the cost of that could be eye watering. I guess maybe in 3 - 5 years the prices could be where OLED are at the moment.

I have a LG 55” 1080p. Zero issues. Great picture still. However, I have my eye on a Sony 65”X900E. Just waiting on this years model to come out for a price drop. It’s been a great 10 past years w/the LG.

11 years for a 32" 720p Samsung in the bedroom, still does the job.

I have a 60-inch 6 year old 2012 Samsung LED.

6 months ago it developed a green vertical line about two inches from the left side edge.

Pretty pissed about it, I expected at least 10 years with it as it was top of the line when released.

I'm done with Samsung for TV's going forward--1st 4K TV I will get will be Sony (as soon as they get their Dolby Vision crap together and stable).

Sorry to hear that, that is a short life for a tv, what caused that?

I could have posted this almost word-for-word.

I *think* I got my 55" LG in 2007 and the 65" 900E is definitely the front-runner in the replacement sweepstakes.

In fact, I came very, very close to grabbing one a week or two before the Super Bowl but I'm going to be moving in a few months and thought it wiser to wait until I'm in the new place. And like you say, who knows what impact the new models will have on prices.

55” 900e is mine too, waiting for it to drop in price here in the U.K. , it’s £1099 but I think it could go lower very soon.

2010 - November - Panasonic TC-P46S2 (Plasma) - Red sparklies in dark scenes began 3 years ago, works fine other than that
2014 - November - VIZIO E320FI-B2 (LED) - One pixel died, works fine other than that

Hmm , it seems I am destined to buy another TV this November which coincides with my desire to get a 4K/HDR set this year.

From my understanding, the red sparkly issue I experience with the Plasma can be fixed by adjusting some potentiometers, but I don't feel like un-mounting the TV and opening it up. Better safe than sorry, time to chuck it. Prior to 2010 I used computer monitors and USB TV tuners, and prior to that CRT's.

I've had my 52" Samsung LCD since 2009 with no issues.

Three Samsungs in the house, had the oldest at least 10 years+ and none have ever had any issues. Picture is uniformly excellent on all of them too. Speakers are lousy but I guess that's to be expected.

The oldest TV I have now is the LG 47LH55. Got it BF 2009, no issues. It belongs to my 9 year old son now. I paid a little over $1,000 for it. It's amazing that the same amount can get me a 70" 4K HDR tv now. I bought two 55" 4K tvs this past BF for less than $700.

I have a Sony 52" KBR4 that still works, but it has developed a symptom where the picture blanks out for a second or two and sometimes doesn't come back at all until I turn it off and back on again. I mean unplug it, not just go to stand by mode. It's 9 years old, but the picture is still very good.

I'm with you. I have the Sony 52" XBR4 and it is still going strong. Not one issue. It has worked perfect since I pulled it out of the box 9 years ago. Just moved it upstairs this week because I bumped up to the 65" Z9D. These Sony's last forever.

I got a year and half out of my Samsung UN60J6200. Just noticed about a week ago a big dark spot in upper center of the screen and in every corner. The brighter the screen, the more noticeable. Anyone else have this problem?

My 32" LG LCD TV is still going strong since July 2009. Don't use it as much since 2015 when I got my Optoma projector, but it makes for a suitable 2nd room setup for watching BBC documentaries when it's too sunny to use the projector.

I picked up the 42 inch version of that same model back in September of 2010. It still runs just as great as it did the day I got it but has been moved to the bedroom and doesn't get used nearly as much since I upgraded to 4K.

As an aside, I saw several people in Walmart today grabbing those cheap Element televisions and wanted to just grab them and shake them while asking 'what are you doing? These sets may last 2-3 years if you're lucky.'

I have a Sony XBR 55HX929 from 2011 that still works perfectly and has a great picture. I almost wish something would go wrong with it so I could rationalize buying a new TV. Before that, I was using a Sony CRT that was still working perfectly after something like 25 years.
