Great film. I was a bit skeptical because I've found Gerwig's acting a bit hit and miss but she's proven to be a solid talent behind the camera based on this. Great cast, funny, heartfelt, easygoing.

That’s one lengthy Blu-ray case.

i was thinking about making a thread on this but the amazon page is the only evidence i've found.

the region a release comes out quite soon; this debuted in cinema here just recently though so perhaps we're looking at summer?

Maybe not that late...films only take a 2-3 months to reach Blu-ray these days, especially mainstream ones (unless new extras/UHD holds the release date back). Gonna guess April/May for this one.

As far as I'm aware, the 17-week exclusivity window still applies to any film shown as a regular release by the big chains here, unless you have a counter-example? And as this is playing multiplexes, I can't see this being released here before late June.

Greta Gerwig talks to BFI about how teenage narcissism, mother-daughter squabbling & indie warblers Ben Folds Five inspired her directorial debut.

Ah, didn't realise it's playing multiplexes. I usually go see films in Southampton and only Picturehouse have this so I assumed it was a limited theatrical run.

Recent example of a film having a limited theatrical run and Blu-ray just two months later: Brawl in Cell Block 99.

Ah, gotcha. Yeah, it's one of those that's expanding gradually across several weeks, a la Moonlight. Showing at bigger Cineworld/Odeon/Vue sites, to start with.

Brawl in Cell Block 99 is a good example, I think it only played indies and Showcase (maybe Empire too?). For whatever reason, Showcase and Empire don't demand the same requirements as Odeon/Cineworld/Vue, so you get some pretty random stuff show up there, either to satisfy contractual requirements or to offer a pleasing alternative to the mainstream.

Yup, and they recently opened a Showcase in Southampton, which is where I went to see The Last Jedi soon after it was released for only £6.75! They have a free membership card so you can see anything for that price on Sunday/Monday/Tuesday. First time I came across Showcase was some years ago in Bristol but I never went as people told me it was pricy (and it definitely is when you compare how much it is to see something at Watershed, The Cube etc).

Anyway yeah, funnily enough a colleague of mine mentioned she wanted to see Lady Bird and seemed to think it would arrive at our local Everyman soon, so does seem like this film is getting a US-style limited initial rollout with an increase in screenings as we lead up to the Oscars. After all, like Moonlight last year, it's an awards underdog. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw 'encore' screenings of Get Out and Call Me By Your Name showing up around this time of year too.

Slightly frustrating when that happens though 'cause obviously it will impact films being newly released - I really want to catch You Were Never Really Here but it's StudioCanal who barely ever fight their ground unless there's awards attention, so it might be hard to catch a screening. Ditto Sweet Country and Unsane, but definitely not Isle of Dogs (thankfully Wes Anderson has become very popular over the years).

Can anyone confirm whether or not the UK Blu Ray has the audio commentary and featurette from the US Blu Ray?

The review on AVForums says they’re both there.
You will have to search for it yourself as they don’t allow links to rival sites here.

I have the UK disk and on the back it states it has "Realising Lady Bird" (presumably a featurette) and a commentary.

Thanks both.
I saw the review on AVF, I just couldn't tell which country it was for...
