Were these actually good movies? I never bothered seeing them because some of my friends just said they might as well be labled as snuff. I thought they looked more like the Saw movies, and I sort of enjoyed the story behind saw. Would you recomend these two knowing that?

Sweet. This takes the sting off of the fact that my girlfriend couldn't find me a copy when she was in Japan! Hopefully they keep the PCM audio that's on the Japanese version.

Hostel is more of a rental. The story doesn't suck you in like Saw.

I really liked the first one but thought the 2nd was worthless. I mean... neither requires you to think too much if you know what I mean. But the first one reminds me of the slasher films of the 80's only much more shocking. Lots of nakedness and blood, but not in the same scenes.

For me, Hostel 1 and 2 are the definition of Torture Porn, especially Part 1. Went and saw Part 2 and the theater with about only 2 other people in the room. It was fine, just not as good as the first IMO.

I feel the same way. Both are quite forgettable, and I'll probably pass these up on blu-ray. Oct,Nov,Dec are going to be busy months for movies to begin with!!

Default To each his own, or her.

Can't see the appeal of movies like this, then again I get queezy watching those operation table shows on the learning channel. But something like 300 with endless dismemberment and decapitations, no problem. Hope you all enjoy seeing these in HD.

I'll be picking up the first one but I'am not sure about the second one because I have not seen it yet. I don't know if it will be worth the $$$$

First one was alright, nothing special indeed. Will watch the second one but not counting on anything special.

I'll be picking both up. If you're looking horror films with any kind of story (ie: Saw) then pass these buy. If you're looking to get creeped out, grab them both.

Was it because of the last scene?
