Anybody experience problems playing "the wackness" on their Samsung 1500? - Blu-ray Forum

hello all. new to the site.

i was wondering if anybody experienced any problems playing the wackness on their blu ray player? for some reason it works on my sony 350, but it did not work on my samsung. this is the first time i had any problems playing a blu. anybody else have this problem?

hey thanks for the help. im sure the firmware update will fix this problem. samsung is sending me the firmware update disc. thanks again!

I have the Samsung BDP1500 and I just rented The Wackness from Netflix. I got what appears to be a brand new disk - no signs of wear or scratches. Had updated the Sammy firmware once since buying it (to enable BD-Live). Just downloaded and updated to version 2.3, dated January of 2009. Was having trouble doing the live update online even though its hooked up to ethernet with a DHCP server, so I downloaded the CD ISO and updated that way. Update was successful (much more responsive) but still fails to play The Wackness, ending with an eject and a "Disc cannot be played" message. Reported the problem to Netflix and they're sending me a replacement disk, but I'm doubtful that this is the problem.

THIS IS THE KIND OF STUPID (expletive deleted) THAT WILL KEEP BLU-RAY FROM BECOMING MAINSTREAM!!! Can you imagine telling your technophobe mother that all she needs to do is either hook up her Blu-Ray player to ethernet and update online or download an ISO, burn a CD, and update that way? Ridiculous.
