Default Ninja III: The Domination (1984) (Collector's Edition) - June 12, 2018

https://www.shoutfactory.com/product...roduct_id=6744

Quote:
“Only a Ninja…can destroy a Ninja” ***SURPRISE ANNOUNCMENT***

1984’s NINJA III: THE DOMINATION from Cannon Pictures is one of the most bonkers and wtf films we’ve ever put on Blu-ray. For those who haven’t seen it, it’s a wild concoction of police shootouts, martial arts, golfing, The Exorcist, sex, hot tubs, Flashdance and video games. (Even V-8 makes a memorable appearance.) Although we knew the film had a vocal following when we released it 2014 we didn’t quite know what to expect or how big it would be. The sales numbers surprised us and it over-performed.

What’s always bugged us though was that our release was a little on the “barebones” side, save for a commentary. Today, we correct that. We are re-releasing NINJA III again on June 12th as a “Collector’s Edition” Blu-ray with a serious upgrade in picture and extras. Some confirmed details as follows:

• The newly-commissioned artwork pictured comes to us from artist Joel Robinson (Silent Night Deadly Night, Misery, Tales from the Hood). This art will be front-facing and the reverse side of the wrap will be the original theatrical poster art.

• Release will come with a slipcover (guaranteed for three months after its original release date).

• We are doing a new 4K scan of the film from original film elements.

- Red Shirt Pictures is handling the bonus features on this and have come up with some kick-ass new stuff:
- NEW 4K Scan From The Original Film Elements
- NEW interview with Actress Lucinda Dickey
- NEW interview with Actor Jordan Bennett
- NEW interview with Producer and Stuntman Alan Amiel
- NEW audio Interviews with Production Designer Elliot Ellentuck and Co-Composer Misha Segal featuring isolated tracks from the Original Score
- Theatrical Trailer (in HD) with optional Trailers From Hell commentary with Screenwriter Josh Olson
- Audio Commentary by Director Sam Firstenberg and Stunt Coordinator Steve Lambert (ported over from the prior DVD & Blu-ray release)

Pre-order now directly from our website @ https://www.shoutfactory.com/…/ninja...ion-col… to get the product two weeks early from national street date plus you’ll receive a free exclusive collectible 18” x 24” rolled poster of the newly-designed key art (only while supplies last)

I gotta get this. I've been meaning to pick up the other Ninja movies (Enter and Revenge).

Aw man, NOW they give us a new transfer and extras. I wonder how much better it will look than their 2014 release that of course I already bought.

Definitely getting this. I enjoyed the movie, but the Lucinda Dickey interview, alone, warrants my double dip.

Also, it doesn't say whether this comes with a slip, but it should, since it's part of their Collector's Edition line, yes?

This is just the start of Scream Factory double dipping in their titles. I know that they have been rereleasing titles with new steelbook packaging, but this is the first time they have redone a title with new features, scan, etc. I just hope this is not going to be a trend for them. They should be putting that money into newer, bigger titles or just newer titles. I hate having to buy something twice, especially from a boutique label like Scream Factory.

Despite the fact that I'm slightly grumbly about already purchasing their 2014 release, at least this contains a fresh 4K scan and is not just a mere repackage cash grab, and I'll probably end up getting it. I support them putting out improved product, as I do with Arrow's vastly improved Argento re-releases.

WOW! Definitely did not see this coming!

Easily one of the better "WTF?!" movies from the 80s. I will strongly consider upgrading to this new version.

So, cute-as-a-button Lucinda Dickey from the Breakin' movies as a possessed aerobics instructor? How have I never seen or even heard of this? I can sense that cheesy 80's goodness from here...

Is that supposed to be Lucinda Dickey on that cover? lol

Initially I thought this was a joke post but then I realized it's too early for April Fool's

Not me. Every release can always be improved upon. But the focus needs to be for titles that don't have any releases at all.

Yes. It's stated in the second bulletpoint in the original post.

I figured this was going to happen sooner or later. I wonder how many people will now think twice before buying any SF title that doesn’t have a new 4K transfer, lots of extras, etc.

Ugh, just bought the standard release last Fall, haven't even watched it yet. Guess I'll hold out for the upgrade. I just hope this isn't going to be a trend with them, there were several movies they released as standard editions that probably deserved more.

If Shout have exhausted the pool of available titles it's inevitable they'll need to go back to the well. The question is, are they going to reissue the same old stuff or will they stick to titles that really need fresh transfers or were botched the first time? I could think of several early titles that could use new scans.
