I'm good for this. Here's my review from the Movies sub-forum...

Seven years after her father disappeared due to unknown circumstances, the resourceful and independent Lara Croft, played by Alicia Vikander, spends her days working as a bike courier in London and trying to make her own way in the world while refusing to acknowledge her inheritance. When she discovers a key to her father's office, however, and learns that his last destination was a remote island where a mythical queen with a deathly power was entombed, she takes off on a perilous journey to the island in order to come to terms with her loss. Unfortunately, a sinister organization is one step ahead of her in their quest to open the tomb. Lara's athletic agility, her puzzle-solving skills, and her stubborn toughness are soon put to the ultimate test.

Tomb Raider is a reboot that nobody asked for, and, on the surface, it's a pointless cinematic endeavor all around, considering that the time window for another movie adaptation of the video game of the same name seems to have long since expired. Fortunately, this movie defies the logic behind its cash-grab existence, and it succeeds admirably on its own terms as an energetically fast-paced action extravaganza that owes more to the Indiana Jones movies of the 1980s and the Tarzan movies of the 1930s and 1940s than it does to the earlier video game adaptations that proceeded it.

Alicia Vikander, who has been one of my favorite actresses since I first saw her in Ex Machina, owns this film all around. She is featured in almost every single still frame, and every sequence is a wondrous celebration of her rugged physique. This is one of those movies that inspires everyone who sees it, male or female, to hit the gym as soon as the credits roll. In contrast to the earlier Lara Croft: Tomb Raider films that depicted the title character as an impossibly statuesque pin-up in the form of Angelina Jolie, Vikander's incarnation presents a surprisingly grounded testament to what real human bodies are capable of doing. From the early London scenes, where Croft evades pursuers on a bike through the chaotic city traffic, to the island jungle moments, where she evades death by waterfalls or collapsing underground caverns, Tomb Raider is a visually-arresting reminder that choreography and stunts can still win the day over digital effects.

This may not be the most relevant or necessary movie in theaters this year, but it is one of the most fun ones out there.

I posted more detailed thoughts in the movies subforum, but I agree with Owl here. I thought it was a lot of fun, and I'd gladly see a sequel and buy the blu.

I almost skipped this due to the bad reviews, but I'm glad I didn't. I look forward to seeing it again.

This was very good. I was suprised that I liked it because the trailers and posters didn't make it look good at all. I will definitely buy this.

This is one of the movies where it got average reviews, but I've heard nothing but positive comments from the dozen or so people I know who've seen it. Probably won't get a chance to catch it in theaters, but I might blind buy it.

i freakin love this movie made me fall for Vikander even more. They need to announce the start of a franchise. So much positivity around this and Vikander getting praise lets to right from Critics and audience. This is totally different than the Jolie movies which were hated by everyone. This one people wanna see more.

I agree on your points. I don't / didn't play the games. I just like this because it's a great action/adventure story with a fantastic Vikander.

Saw it in the theaters, it's an okay predictable paint by numbers outing...awful cover art though. Have there been any US exclusives announced?

Whoever was in charge of the poster/cover art for this should be fired...they made her look like some giraffe/human experimentation gone wrong.

it's not as bad as the other theatrical poster but that's not saying much....
