Arbitrary distinction. And a wrong one at that.

It has a DVI input, which means if the set itself support 1080p [it's a CRT, so no, it doesn't] it could play it [it can still do 1080i however]. DVI and HDMI are fairly interoperable at the basic level, long as you have a cable with the appropiate connections, or an adapter, which surprise, the OP had.

It also has component connections, which can also carry 1080p video, although again in this instance constrained down to 1080i.

Now, since his television doesn't have an hdmi port, yes, he can't have his television recieve more than 2 channel PCM audio or the advanced loss-less codecs. However, that's really going to be his reciever's job anyway, not the television [with it's awe inspiring 2 speakers plus a subwoofer out cable].

tl;dr : You're wrong.

what are u telling me that i don't know? ... that is besides the fact that u disagree w/ my "distinction".

his TV still doesn't have an HDMI in, and it still can't handle 1080p.
not that i matters because it's so small anyway and he won't tell the difference in watchign movies.

thus, a 32 inch LCD Vizio is still better than his TV.

http://myhometheater.homestead.com/v...alculator.html

The lack of an "HDMI" port is a non-issue for this set for two fun reasons.

1) DVI is electrically compatible with HDMI. For video purposes, the set has a funny shaped HDMI port.

2) The set has component inputs anyway.

Which was already stated.

Now, that it doesn't play 1080p... Yes, great, it's not running 1080p. There are more than a few games for the PS3 that actually don't run at 1080p either. Sucks, but that's the way of things. I even have a blu-ray that isn't 1080p [sacriledge you may think, but Nature's Journey is still awesome]. Frankly, yes, 1080p is better, but it isn't a necessity to enjoy high-def. Same as with all those fun OTA HD signals.

And frankly, there's not much other way to play some games besides on a PS3 even if you don't have a big TV.

[ edit ]
A really nice thread to explain the differences between 1080p and 1080i is even on this board .

I still think you can have some viewing pleasure with your tv, even if it is only 26'. Simple answer to ur question, just get a fiber optic cable to ur receiver and keep the HDMI/DVI adapter from ur ps3 to tv. That's how I had mine before I got my tv and I loved it.

I bet at least half the people on here dont even have 1080p, and yes you will be able to see a difference. I have a 19in 720p in my bedroom and the picture is amazing.

Ummm, if you have a DVI/HDMI cable, just hook it up to ur ps3, now when they ask about audio device, you're gonna either use the RCA cable, or best bet if u have a receiver, use optical since DVI doesnt output audio, just video. If that doesn't satisfy you, get a new tv.

why do you have to be so sarcastic? It's really becoming quite rude. He is just asking a simple question and you have to make it sound that what he has is just crap. Not everyone can afford a 50 inch tv, especially the way the economy is. If you cant say anything positive or helpful, then just keep your comments to yourself.

If you can't answer questions without being an ass then why bother responding in the first place. No offense but you sound like a little kid when you patronize about how your tv is better than anybody else's. Not cool...
