United Kingdom The Sartana Collection (Arrow)

Just had someone foward me this wee bit of data. Screw it, Sartana needs his own thread!

Quote:
Clint Eastwood’s Man with No Name spawned imitations, variations and shameless rip-offs keen to emulate his success at the box office. Within months of A Fistful of Dollars’ release, Giuliano Gemma was playing Ringo, who was then followed by Franco Nero’s Django, Tony Anthony’s The Stranger and Gianni Garko’s Sartana – each providing their own twist on the Eastwood antihero, and each of them then subject to their own spate of unofficial sequels, spoofs and cash-ins.

Sartana tapped into more than just his Spaghetti Western predecessors – a mysterious figure, he has a spectral quality, aided by his Count Dracula-alike cloak which also nods towards comic strip figure Mandrake the Magician, with whom he shares he shares a penchant for card tricks. He takes pride in his appearance unlike the Eastwood’s dusty wanderer or Nero’s mud-caked drifter. And there’s a dose of James Bond too in his fondness for gadgetry and the droll sense of humour.

Unsurprisingly, this unique figure in the genre was treated to four official follow-ups. The Complete Sartana collects all five films, presented here in brand-new restorations:
* If You Meet Sartana... Pray for Your Death,
* I Am Sartana, Your Angel of Death,
* Have a Good Funeral My Friend... Sartana Will Pay,
* Light the Fuse... Sartana Is Coming
* Sartana's Here... Trade Your Pistol for a Coffin
Badassed! The Sartana flicks are is right up there with Django and the Clint three. Preordering this straight away!

I picked up the Genon DVD of Have a Good Funeral from Right Stuff for a buck during one of the closeouts and it was great stuff. Brunio Nicolai's score totally kicks ass:

Since it's USA and UK I'm assuming it'll be 2500 units in each region. They surely wouldn't stiff Sartana fans with just 1250 in each country.

Just to add other cool details to the thread, this Sartana box has multiple commentary tracks, a booklet with writing by Roberto Curti and Howard Hughes, and new interviews with director Gianfranco Parolini, writers Fabbio Piccioni and Ernesto Gastaldi, actors Sal Borghese, Roberto Dell'Acqua, George Hilton, and Tony Askin, actress Erika Blanc, plus archival interviews with director Giuliano Carnimeo and star Gianni Garko. Arrow have really gone to town with this one. It must have been all those people in threads on Facebook repeatedly bugging them for a Sartana box that did it.

I'm so glad these movies are finally released in good quality. Not a hughe fan of the cover art though, but no biggie. Have pre-ordered of course. These movies are so much fun.

I like that they've put the English poster as the reverse cover.

Well I Ordered the Ringo films directly from Arrow, they shipped it week before Official release date. But they don't use Royal mail, but some some other service and it took 1.5 weeks to arrive to Finland.

I ordered this directly from Arrow too and they haven't shipped it yet.

Is this likely to end up in any sales here in the UK anytime soon? £50 is reasonable but still quite pricey.

Soon? probably no, but eventually yes. I can't imagine this selling out.

I’m glad Arrow used slim cases for each film in this box, something I wish Indicator would do with their shelf space hoggers. All sleeves reversed to show original art, now go find the time to watch them. Really in the mood too, after reacquainting myself with The Great Silence the other day.

I guess they won't have a regular edition of this once it's sold out. Like the Phantasm set, once this is gone it'll probably be gone?
