Looks as if this will be a BD-R release.

Ugh. I guess we're lucky to be getting a physical release at all, but still...

I bet Criterion will eventually get their hands on this, so this'll be a nice placeholder in the meantime.

That seems really unlikely to me. I loved this film, but it came and went in theaters, completely unnoticed. Has Criterion even released any Amazon titles? They've also only released one Haynes title. If they haven't released Far From Heaven, which has had no US BD at all and is from Universal, a studio they release tons of product from, I think the chances of this are slim to none, sadly.

It's very disheartening to see Lionsgate beginning to release BD-Rs, as they've been one of the strongest supporters of the (Blu-ray proper) format.

BD-R.

Won't be wasting my money on this.

Anyone know if the French release has forced subs. If not, I’m getting that one.

Shots (and stats) here look good:

It's been release theatrically in the UK this month, so for my part, I'm waiting for the UK Blu-ray, which will come hopefully in the following months.

The reviewer for the French site confirmed to me that French subs are not imposed when playing the French disc with the English soundtrack.

Is it just the Lionsgate copies that are BD-R?

I would also add because "Wonderstruck" didn't have the adulation behind it that "Far from Heaven" and "Carol" had. That being said, despite being, at least to me, the weakest entry in his filmography so far, I'm still surprised Amazon/Lionsgate is being so lazy with the release.

I thought only pressed discs could have the official blu-ray logo on the case. Is this a Warner Archive situation where it's MOD but pressed, and the BD-R listing is an error? Either that or the artwork is wrong, right?

Edit: They've removed the blu-ray case and logo from the art. Looks like this is definitely BD-R. Bummer.

My copy just arrived, it's a BD-R, and it's in a thick UK case.

Bonus features are 7 featurettes.

I loved the film and I'm a huge fan of the loose trilogy of books, so I'm gonna have to get this at some point.

This movie pleasantly surprised me...really liked the 70's scenes. Funky!
That said, disappointed by this BD-R junk, but frankly it will probably always be on Amazon to stream, and stream it I will with their 4K/UHD version. Looks great.

The 70s scenes blew me away, it looked like they somehow time traveled and shot on location in 1977 New York. They clearly had a lot of money for production design and crowds of extras.

Blew me away too. Production design was flawless.
