Default Bad News About Future WWE Blu-ray Releases

Quote:
WWE DVD distributer Genius Products is in serious financial peril after being de-listed for the over the counter board after the company failed to release a third quarter fiscal report. Genius Products lost $11.7 million in the second quarter. This affects WWE as they had plans to start regularly releasing Blu-ray discs late last year, but with the financial problems
Genius had, they weren't able to make the shift. While Blu-ray releases are still considered a niche market, WWE officials weren't happy with UFC beating them to the marketplace with them.

This sucks, I hope they find a new distributor.

I figured the problem would be the content on the discs themselves. WWE is nothing like it used to be.

WWF/ECW/WCW video cassettes > WWE blu-ray

Unless WWE plans to release old stuff on BD.

I gotta say, the best matches of all time are..

Stone Cold vs. Shawn Michaels, Wrestlemania

Undertaker vs. Mankind, Hell in a Cell match

Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart, Iron Man match

Razor Ramon vs. Shawn Michaels, Ladder match (2nd one)

I'm sure someone else will pick them up. (Both companies)

Unfortunately, WWF/WWE stuff is all 480i before they went hi-def. I mean, every WrestleMania uptil the most recent one on 2 discs is kinda cool, but I doubt it'll sell.

Bonus View commentaries on matches could be awesome though.... PiP Mick Foley doing commentaries on his Hell in a Cells,etc...

I don't think this will be a problem for long for WWE. I'm sure they will either start their own distribution or quickly acquire another company to distribute their titles. Either way, I doubt the distribution was the main reason behind WWE not releasing more Blu-Ray titles.

Well I personally care nothing about WWE but Genius being in trouble is bad news in general for Blu-ray.

I was just wondering before I saw this post if they would release any more WWE Blu-rays. I haven't picked up WM24 yet, but I'll probably pick it up once the price goes down more.

When I was into wrestling, I hated watching old WWF television on the new WWE branding DVD's. I hate how the WWF logo is blocked out. It is very distracting.

I'm glad I won't ever see the WWF logo pixelated out @ 120hz.

Only the WWF "scratch logo" from the late 90s-early 2000s is blocked out.

The old school block logo from the 80s-90s isn't blocked out.
