Angry Blu-rays from Amazon.co.uk arriving unsealed...

Anyone else have had a problem with Blu-rays imported to the US from Amazon.co.uk arriving without a shrink wrap? I just ordered a few discs and they were all open inside the shipping box.

Please check if the item was shipped by their preferred merchant. You can anyways notify amazon.co.uk about this and they may offer you some kind of partial refund.

Would that be on the shipping label because on their order summary page it says "Sold by: Amazon EU S.a.r.L."?

You'll have to say what the discs were. Not all discs over here in the UK are shrink wrapped (although most are).

I have noticed that the ITV released Blu-ray discs in the shops do not have shrink wrap on them. I also noticed that The Shawshank Redemption in the shops was not shrink wrapped either.

It is true what a previous poster says that not all discs are shrink wrapped in the UK.

I have two ITV titles Ipcress File & Black Narcissus.
Yep, they arrived unwrapped. I don't bother that much though.

No, ITV DVD releases aren't shrinkwrapped.

I bought Capricorn One and The Boys From Brazil from HMV Liverpool and they just have the HMV security sticker holding them closed.

The discs are in perfect condition though!

ITV never shrink wrap Blu-rays from the looks of it all that I have bought that are made by them haven't had shrink wrapping.

I guess they are doing their bit for the environment

I'd rather get movies unshrinked than I would getting a US movie over here I need to spend 20 minutes to unwrap.

So, in summary, yes some of them do not come shrinkwrapped. (Ipcress File and Black Narcissus are my blu-ray examples.)

Well, that's weird. You would think they would spend a couple of cents on a shrink wrap to preserve the merchandise and prevent tampering. I'm not going to send them back because most probably the replacements will also be unsealed.

If I were you I would not worry. I believe you have a new Blu-ray disc. All the comments seem to concur with mine that some studios in the UK do not shrink wrap. I have been to a number of retail stores here in the UK and have seen with my own eyes disc on shelves un shrink wrapped, where others titles are.

In fact as another example, Letters from Iwo Jima on DVD was not shrink wrapped, but Flags of our Fathers was, and that was true for all stores I visited. Go figure.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your purchase.
