Not cut. This has been discussed at great lengths in other threads. Scaremongering...

Amazon UK keeps selling out because people like me from the states keep buying the movies from the UK. My wife bought me all four for my B-Day for about $84 that included shipping. I received mine in FL in less than a week. |

Now that Digital Bits is cover-arting Warner's Batman Anthology boxset for 3/10 (which is basically going to be an up-dumping of the SD boxset with some minor additions) never got around to asking:
Is either Anthology-set version of "Batman Forever" (the semi-tolerable #3 Schumacher one, with Carrey/Jones) the talked-about "Director's cut", which was supposedly going to restore twenty or so minutes of Kim Basinger's psychiatrist, after her "Batman on the couch" flashback subplot was essentially eliminated from the theatrical cut? (ISTR it might not have been the EE last time, but like the Donner "Superman II", might rent it out of curiosity.) |

The Batman Forever director's cut was never completed. It was talked about a few times, but just never happened. And now with the reboot and the completely new, and very successful, direction for Batman, it's unlikely interest for this will be strong enough to get the ball rolling anytime soon, if ever.
So no, the BD version of Batman Forever won't have the director's cut - just the theatrical version like all past releases. p.s. Kim Basinger was in the 1989 "Batman." The 1995 "Batman Forever" has Nicole Kidman. I didn't know a Kidman subplot was cut out, I'd certainly be interested in seeing that in the new cut if it ever happens since I'm a huge fan of hers. |

There was some talk before the last DVD release, to complete the film as it was intended. Much like how Superman II was restored to something closer to it's intended presentation. There's several subplots that got cut. Including scenes that made the final battle on Riddler's Island actually make sense.
I think the OP may be confusing the Kim Basinger with Nicole Kidman. And the subplot he appears to be referring to is in regard to Bruce's Parents Death and the Big Book (which was Thomas Wayne's Journel) that's shown during the funeral flashback scenes. Sadly the Extended Cut for a film that most don't like didn't happen. From IMBD: Large sequences of the movie were deleted to trim the movie down to two hours. The red journal that was left by Bruce's father contained words that deepened his guilt ("Bruces insists we see a movie tonight...") and made him feel responsible for his parent's death. After Bruce is knocked unconscious during the attack on Wayne Manor, he loses his memory and does not recall ever being Batman, but is haunted by a terrible guilt. To face his fear, Bruce ventures into the heart of the cave where the journal is, and reads the end of the sentence that cleanses his guilt ("but Martha and I have our hearts set on Zorro, so Bruce's movie will have to wait for next week") The giant bat then appears, and Bruce stands eye to eye with it. After his memory returns, Bruce triggers a hidden button that reveals a second layer to the batcave, where the Batwing, Batboat, and the experimental sonar suit were kept (thus explaining why they escaped Riddler's wrath). In the stuff they cut out (the stuff that was in the Director's Cut) it explains how Bruce Wayne stops being Batman. And after he got shot by Two-Face, he had a temporary memory loss or something of that sort but he still felt compelled to be Batman. I can't remember. I haven't read the story behind it in a couple years. The overall moral is that no matter what happens to Bruce, he'll be Batman forever.

Alfred: Let's not forget about repairing the Batmobile. There's certain security to consider. It's not as though we can take it to any old "Joe's bodyshop," is it, sir? Bruce Wayne: Security? Who let Vicki Vale into the Batcave? I'm sitting there working and I turn around, there she is. "Oh hi, Vick - come on in." |
