Default Should i buy a PS3?

I already have a amazing Blu ray samsung top of the line player that cost 300.00 dollars should i get a PS3 also? I mean I'am not a huge gamer only play sports games is it worth it? I'am going to buy a small HD TV later in the year for my sports room and want a Blu Ray player for it, so should I invest in a PS3 or just a cheaper Blu Ray?

Im would say cheaper bluray player if your not gaming. Save some money and spend them on movies.

As a PS3 owner I say yes. Especially if you plan to play games. Even if it's just sport games the games look great on the PS3! Plus if you want another BD player its a win win.

well if you don't already have a gaming system, I'd suggest getting a PS3. So many features:
Blu-ray lol
Games
Media center - I have videos and Tv shows downloaded on my PC. I can go to the living room, and watch it on my big screen through the PS3.

Remember, the Plastation 3 does a lot more then play games and movies. It is a storage device for movies, music, and pics. It is a streaming device from your PC to the Ps3 for movies, music, and pics. It is a web browser. It has a online movie store for renting and purchacing HD and SD content.

I have a Ps3 hooked up to all HDTV's in my house for that reason.

I am looking at getting a hdtv for the bedroom. I have a ps3 in the living room, and would get no other bluray for the bedroom but a ps3. A bedroom ps3 would not get used really for gaming, but as mentioned above the ps3 is way more then a blu/gaming system. No stand alone can do everything the ps3 can. my 2 cents

I would get a PS3, BUT if you already have a Blu ray player, then I would tell you to wait for a price drop. Hopefully 1st quarter of this year. I am going to get another for the bedroom but since I already have one, I can wait for it to be a bit cheaper. Hopefully when I get my taxes back.

+ 1 I'll get a second BD player for the living room myself so houseguests can enjoy my BD films & games too. Damn that means I'll have to buy two more controllers too.

Anyway to the OP: If you can't afford a PS3 than a stand alone player will be fine. As Ferris Beuller would say: if you have the means, I'd highly recommend you pick one up. It's so choice.

being able to store movies/music and photo's makes the ps3 worth so much more over a standalone. and thats not even getting to the gaming part yet.

i say go for it. when i was younger i was into games, i wouldnt call myself a hardcore gamer, but i wouldnt call myself a casual gamer, im in between. well for a while i played games but not as much as i used to when i was younger. i had the ps2 and gamecube, well i bought a ps3 a yr and half ago and it brought me back to games, i cant get enough games. it deff brought my inner child back and i couldnt be more happier, if you dont play tons of games, i say still give it a shot, it will deff hook you. plus its such a great machine.

I wasn't a huge gamer either until the likes of Dead Space and Fallout 3 came out, and pretty soon Killzone 2. Plus there's just so much more you can do with a PS3. Spend the extra cash if you can and pick one up IMO

If your just a casual gamer and don't want to get into gaming at all I'd wait and pick up your favorite games for about 10 bucks to 15 bucks a piece. When you have a few cheap titles the system should be less expensive thus making it a better deal for you.

I, however, LOVE my PS3. But it really is a gaming machine. It also does music and photos nicely, but honestly no one buys them for THAT reason alone.
