Box Office Showdown (4/20/-4/22) Super Troopers 2, I Feel Pretty, Traffik

Speaking of Traffik, has anyone heard anything about this?
Are they not screening this for critics or is there an embargo on it.
Making me kinda nervous as I'm plan on seeing this tonight.

lol 4 million for Super Troopers 2. The original made 6 million opening weekend and nobody knew what the movie was. Years later its one of the best comedies around and a huge cult classic, the sequel is making over 12 Million.. I'm even going as bold as saying it takes second place behind that awful and yet another domestic solo failure Dwayne Johnson film

Cult classic or not, comedy sequels that are released 10+ years after the original have a horrible track record at the box office. Zoolander 2, Hot Tub Time Machine 2, etc. (even though HTTM2 was 5 years)

The only successful one I can think of was Anchorman 2.

Having seen Super Troopers 2 tonight, I'm really hoping it'll surpass the box office predictions here. The first movie has a huge cult audience, and I hope they all show up and support it this weekend. #1 would be a great surprise.

Veronica Mars was a kickstarter project that hit its funding goal, it made $3 mil.

Super Troppers 2 made $1.35M from Thursday previews...that is an awesome start. Maybe someone will release Club Dread now...I love that movie, it so much fun. I suggested a release to Walter in the Scorpion thread and I am about to make the same suggestion to David DeFalco in the Dark Force thread...someone needs to release Club Dread in Blu-ray. That is all.

Fox is never letting it go. I've been waiting a long time for this one. Kino and Olive or even Shout should get involved as well. So many classic comedies need a bluray release.

Super Troopers 2 was fun, the audience seemed to have a decent spread age-wise from 20-50. The storytelling is kind of flat though, don't expect it to go gangbusters.

There was a new trailer for Sicario 2 that played before S.T.2 that I found far more intriguing than the previous trailer. This is now a must-see for me. Haven't seen the first film.

I think Super Troopers might be able to pull off a $10 million+ opening. But there will probably be a huge drop from today to tomorrow.

IFP doing 7M today, AQP doing 6M.

Super Troopers looking at 7M today, 14M for the weekend. (I imagine this will drop down to 10-11M similar to how All Eyez On Me dropped off heavily).

Rampage with 16M in third.

Traffik with 4.4M for the weekend.
