Considering the wrestling footage is sourced from 480i videotape (except for possibly new interviews), I can't see how this could benefit from a Blu release.

Yeah me neither. Not to mention that it's WCCW. That's like Ring of Honor putting out a BD and expecting big sales, just not going to happen. WCCW is extremely local for the most part. I doubt WWE's WCCW story on DVD even sold well.

I rather enjoyed the DVD release, but it focused too much on the story of the Von Erich's. I really hope this one has stuff on all the other greats who got their start here in Dallas: Steve Austin, Mick Foley, Sean Michaels, One Man Gang, The Great Kabuki and even the managers like Skandor Akbar.

I remember going to the Sportatorium and watching all of them wrestle growing up and this will be a blast from the past!

I can't wait!

Good to see one wrestling BD. I wish WWE would jump on the train, because it was annoying that for a lot of the Wrestlemanias in their Wrestlemania boxset, that you had to flip the disc over to watch the last handful of matches.

Yeah that would be sweet.
But I probably won't buy that BD, maybe give it a rent.

And you mean Shawn Michaels right? Sean Michaels is a porn star

As he's known now, yes. But if you go to youtube, it has his first match and he went by sean michael. I don't have the URL but it's there.

That match is also available on his newest DVD, Heartbreak & Triumph.

I really liked the documentary because it came off as a lot more heartfelt than the WWE effort. One thing I did think was missing is a lack of interviews with people actually wrestling and managing in that era. I understand they probably couldn't get interviews with folks now with WWE, but I would've liked to hear insight from guys like Kamala, Jim Cornette, The Fantastics, Al Perez, etc. Aside from Gary Hart, Skandor Akbar (who didn't really say much of interest in my opinion), and a minute long clip of a Chris Adams interview before he passed, there wasn't really a lot there.

I don't know how much of an improvement the Blu-Ray will be, but the price is right, so I'll probably ending up getting it.

Really, I'm not sure of how many interviews they will be able to get. Jim Cornette and Mick Foley now work for TNA so there's no way they will be there. Gary Hart just recently passed. Chris Adams and Gino Hernandez are both gone. I would love to hear from the Fantastics or anyone of the many Midnight Express variations there were. I'd love to see Kamala pounding on his belly and grunting again. That was always funny

Right, I mean I realize now that the window's probably closed in terms of getting the TNA guys and others involved. I just thought not including more in-ring talent from that era (although of course there was only so many people they could've gotten, but surely more than just a few managers and Ken Mantell's brother) was a glaring omission. It'd be like one of the NFL's "America's Game" documentaries if they interviewed a lot of the front office staff and then just the punter.

On the extras they have a ten minute clip of Jim Cornette talking about WCCW.

I'm going to get this because I loved the directors cut which I have on DVD.

According to Amazon.com, this looks to be delayed or possibly scrapped,

Looks like it's been canceled. No surprise there. I don't see how this could benefit from a Blu release.

That's the 2nd wrestling Blu Ray that Big Vision has canceled. They also canceled the XPW one and I believe they are also responsible for the long delayed Ghost Hunters one.
