Excellent news.

Also, this should (hopefully) be pressed. I have all of the titles from the first wave of Universal MOD releases and they are pressed, and I just received five of the nine titles from the second batch and they are pressed, also. So that augurs well for future releases also being replicated.

The only difference would seemingly be that the May/June titles are listed on Amazon as "Universal Mod" instead of "Universal Studio", like the previous ones.

Will & Grace on Blu-ray?! I’m shook! I will be buying this day one. I wish the older episodes weren’t stuck with SD quality; it’d be nice to have the whole set on Blu.

Well, hopefully Universal can start releasing more shows on Blu-ray with this new MOD service, I specifically want Syfy's Channel Zero seasons 1-3 on Blu-ray (but if they start with 3, then I'll be okay with starting with that, just get the show on Blu)

We all wish our favorite shows from this time period were available to be remastered, but most studios don't preserve TV as well as WB has.

They're not. Season 8 and most of 7 are in HD. I wouldn't be surprised if there are masters in HD SOMEWHERE of the other seasons. There are 16x9 masters of 3-7 which, usually, means there are HD masters as well.

Wasn't the entire 1998-2006 run (with the exception of the live episodes) shot on 35mm film? If so, then as long as it was edited on film, they could do HD masters, and just upscale the live episodes from the tape masters, which are probably higher quality than 720x480, anyway.

However, if any of the later seasons were edited on tape, then there obviously would be a problem. Honestly, I'm surprised that a series this popular hasn't had its HD conversion finished already, so I hope there aren't issues.

The live episodes were from season 8 which was broadcast in HD.

They were all filmed on 35mm. Whether they were edited on film or tape remains to be seen. I've tried to contact many people affiliated with the editing process and was never able to get a response from any of them. I did, however, speak to the camera operators who confirmed it was all filmed on 35mm.

It was most likely edited on Avid. Whether or not they conformed the negatives back then (which is what happened with feature films in the pre-DI era) is the question. Even if they didn't, it would be possible to scan the negatives and conform them in HD today.

A friend of mine has been watching the original on Hulu, but I don't know what quality those are.

I would say they are slightly better than the old DVDs from about 10 years ago. I wanted to revisit the original after the revival aired and about half the episodes on my discs no longer played so I started watching some on hulu, some on disc. I eventually gave up the discs because hulu was slightly better quality (and it didn't skip and I didn't have to switch discs every so often).

I would love to see the original broadcast versions released. I stopped collecting and sold off my W&G DVDs during the show's initial run because too many of them were syndicated versions, particularly the Supersized episodes. I believe there were a couple of instances of the packaging referring to guest stars that had been cut from the version of the episode included on the release.

I just received my copy of The Sinner, which you can read more about starting here, but just a heads up that it does not have any subtitles. The US retail DVD version of The Sinner appears to have a French dub and subtitles in French as well as English SDH subtitles, but the MOD Blu-ray has none.

So if you are ordering this release thinking it will have any subtitles, it may be best to wait for confirmation.

The revival was terrible, really really terrible, I was so looking forward to watching it. I think only the second episode was great. Meanwhile I'm still waiting for the original run's blu-ray release.
