Chasing Amy Petition? - Blu-ray Forum

Forgive me if this has already been discussed...but i was wondering if anyone had entertained the idea of starting a petition for Criterion Collection to release chasing amy on blu...seeing as the director himself has voiced the desire to do so and was turned down (as I'm sure many of you are aware), and Im sure there are plenty of Kevin Smith fans around here (or at least steve dave)

I would love to see Chasing Amy come to Blu, even though it is my least favourite Kevin Smith film, I do enjoy it a lot and Smith always does an amazing job with extras. Plus it is the one Smith film I don't own yet other then Jersey Girl.

i know what you're saying but i think it tops jersey girl and strike back

by the way DVD Mazter...do u know if there is any word on an extended/unrated cut for the porno blu? considering how dirty this film was to begin with i cant imagine what was cut...but id love to find out!!!!!!!!!

Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier did an appeal of their NC17 rating and won, they didn't cut anything that "wasn't going to get cut in the first place".

They shortened it for length, and quality, not substance.

I heard that there is an unrated cut of the film but they don't seem to be releasing it at least according to the cover art and description, it is just the theatrical cut of the film. It will probably just like Mallrats where in five - ten years, it will come out. I loved the movie

so I will be buying it regardless.

Side note: I'm kinda surprised that you would put Chasing above Strikes Back but I guess everybody is different

Smith said he wanted to do a 10th anniversary edition on blu, I didn't hear of Criterion saying to to that. Smith just said they usually won't do double dips.

the 10th anniversary is the cut the turned down. its already been over 10 yrs hasnt it?

haha well i think it depends on what kind of mood im in ultimatly...there is some funny shit in stikes back!

I hope this comes to Blu soon. I was annoyed when Miramax (I believe) didn't want to release Chasing Amy X on DVD, so I hope Criterion thinks about doing something for Blu. Even if it's not a 10th Anniversary Edition.

Which is BS. Criterion doesn't typically do double dips, but they have.

He's supposedly talking with them about doing a new SE for the Blu-Ray release though.

Hopefully it happens. Since there's a lot of stuff he wants to look back at.

For me, I actually enjoy Smith's later work over his older stuff. For me it goes:

1. Clerks II

2. Mallrats
3. Zack & Miri
4. Jay & Bob
5. Clerks
6. Dogma
7. Chasing Amy
8. Jersey Girl

Overall, I like all of Kevin Smith's work even Jersey Girl

. I believe he is the best comedic writer working these days and look forward to his next films

Chasing Amy and Clerks have been announced for November 16th in the UK. So there should be an announcement for U.S. releases soon.
