Default Needs suggestions for receiver purchase

Okay I am trying to get my HT started and I've been looking at a couple receivers i.e. the Denon AVR-2309CI, Onkyo TX-SR806, Onkyo TX-NR906 and I just need some help as to which one would be better. I read some negatives about the Onkyo 806. I dont know to much about Denon but lots of people like them. I dont want to spend more than 1,200 for a receiver, if I can find it on sale that would be great. I dont have to great a quality speakers, so just ignore that part. I need help finding a receiver that will be great for what I have now and will be getting later. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Can I ask why you want to spend so much on a receiver when your speakers "aren't too great"? It seems to defeat the purpose to spend a lot on the receiver when the end of the line is speakers that aren't too hot. Are you planning on upgrading them later?

Yeah I am planning on getting speakers after I get my receiver. I thought it was; buy the receiver first, then the speakers last.

I was just wondering if you were going to keep the speakers you had.

Personally depending on your current setup I'd recommend the speakers first since that's where the biggest jump in quality would be; however sometimes that isn't possible due to a not-so-hot HTiB or the like.

I am going to keep the speakers I have, for now. They are Bose speakers we've had forever. But I will be upgrading

I guess I should have said this first but I wanted to get the receiver first because :chuckles under breath: I dont have a receiver, I sold it because it was outdated and didnt have HDMI inputs/outputs.
