Is it a completely manual process? For example, the Italian Universal Classic Monsters: La Collezione Completa is not in the database. Does that mean all the other titles from Italy were manually entered or was this one not picked up by an automated process?
Also, does a title get tracked for price once it's in the database? |

When IMDB is wrong, how different versions of the same release can be mixed together, how listing a Master Movie ID as anything other than what IMDB has it as can cause some/lots of extra work for other people, etc. |

As well, there are a very small number, mostly DVD's, where the UPC and/or EAN is missing a digit or two, or has them transposed. For a long while now the system automatically looks up that info, but many years ago everyone had to enter it manually, and unfortunately, mistakes were (very) rarely made. Ideally the system would have been perfect initially, but it wasn't. Also, older titles get added often, usually daily. So just because something isn't here today, doesn't mean it won't be here in another day, or week. So, there's often a fair chance that at least one or titles you have that aren't scanning may be here anyway. Or will be by the time you've been a member for a few more weeks. If you can, it's definitely better to search for them manually, rather than creating new entries without checking. It's 1000% better to find an existing entry, and improve it so it is scannable, rather than creating what turns out to be a second entry, which can cause a lot of confusion. |

Sometimes I add movies to the database without any UPC but I at least try to link it to the official Amazon release, hoping that someday, someone will add it to their collection and modify the listing to have the UPC linked to the entry.
Reason being that I add all the Canadian versions of the movies I own, to have a larger Canadian movie database. If I own a Blu-Ray/DVD combo and the Blu-Ray is Canadian but the DVD is US, I try to add the Canadian DVD to complete my combo. (Yes I tend to be OCD, having over 135K submission, it's getting out of hand LOL) |

A lot of times, but far from always, it's the exact same number as the EAN, but without the first digit. The database here usually contains both numbers, when a title has both. For example, for the Criterion release of the New World on US Blu-ray, the UPC = 715515182119, and the EAN = 0715515182119. |
