Default Blu-rays Not Catching On First Try

I've had a Panasonic blu-ray player for a little over two years. Rarely had an issue, but the past three times I've used it, I've put the disc in and it just spins and spins and spins but doesn't start. I eject the tray, close it again, and it picks up right away on the second try.

Is there an easy way to fix this, or is my player possibly on it's way out? So far they've all picked up on the second try, so it does still work. Two years seems like a short lifespan.

the first blu ray player I ever bought was a Panasonic... and it crapped out in just over a year. It would play dvd's, but not blu rays. Haven't bought one since....

The arm the laser might be sticking and not engaging, it might need cleaning or greasing (or the belts are getting loose). But they can be hard to get to. It might be worth looking on YouTube to see if there are any tear-down videos, to see if you fancy the challenge, I'd imagine repairs will run close to picking up a replacement and the player will be dropped from support soon (I suspect), so it might be worth considering a new player (if you can't DIY it).

Since your player is out of it's warranty, I would take it to a repair shop, get an estimate. If it cost too much to get it fixed, I would just buy new one, and keep the Panasonic as a backup.
