Spirit Entertainment will release the first season of the US TV series The Good Place (2016-) on 10 September 2018.

Wow, what a surprise release. Obviously, Shout! released the first season last year in the States on DVD, and frankly, I never expected to see a series like this released on Blu-ray, except maybe if it had become a huge hit in Germany.

Great show, disappointed to see the US got a DVD release, so did not expect a Blu-ray release for the UK. Pre-Ordered on Amazon

I am getting sick of shows being released on DVD when they are shot in Hi-Def, I did not buy The Middle for this reason.

There's a possibility, based on other Dazzler releases, that this might be region free. If Dazzler aren't contractually obliged to region lock it, that would be the smart move I think...

This is £18.99 (+ P&P) at Zavvi at the moment. Just ordered there after cancelling my Amazon pre-order, having noticed Amazon were cheekily going to deliver it five days late on the 15th!

A word of caution on this release - just received Dazzler's release of Travelers: S1 and it is incorrectly at 25fps and the wrong ratio. Probably wouldn't be the wrong ratio for The Good Place, but worth noting it might be 25fps also.

Thanks for posting the region lock bad news on the Travelers review page. Oh well. The Good Place will probably be locked too.

They will have to update it at least once more because Dazzler / Spirit still have the wrong 12 BBFC certificate on it, when the correct one is 15.

So, what Hulu has/had then probably. If these are region free (and correct), I'll get them... if not, maybe Shout will release them in the US at some point.

Hulu only has 5 episodes right now, but all 5 (episodes 8-11) are labelled as "extended cut."

EDIT: nbc.com also has "extended cut" versions of everything except the first episode (which is actually the first two) of season 2. Hopefully the BD has them as well.
