Warner Bros Designing Woman (1957)

Designing Woman

Synopsis: After covering a golf tournament in Los Angeles, sportswriter Mike Hagen returns to his New York home with a tan. And with a fashion-designer wife he scarcely knows.

Romantic pitfalls surface gleefully in this Vincente Minnelli-directed comedy featuring an Oscar®-winning* script and Manhattanites – an ex-flame (Dolores Gray), low-life hustlers(Chuck Connors, Jesse White) and an addled palooka (Mickey Shaughnessy) among them – who rub elbows and funny bones. Lauren Bacall plays the stylish title character. As Hagen, Gregory Peck gamely displays his comedic flair, pratfalling into a chair, slyly mimicking Bacall and coping with indignity as ravioli is served…in his lap.

Special Features and Technical Specs:
BRAND NEW REMASTER OF THE FILM
Original Theatrical Trailer (HD)
Behind the Scenes Mini-Documentary Featuring Costume Designer Helen Rose
Optional English SDH subtitles for the main feature

----------------------------------------------------------------

Woohoo, I'm looking forward to this. Though I have little interest in the Peck/Bacall relationship (I find both of their characters, and their love story, to be a bit irritating), I'm a big fan of Dolores Gray, who appears in a supporting role in this film.

Ah, Dolores... She's a lot of fun to watch, whatever she does, and it's a shame that she really didn't get started in films until musicals were on their way out, because she was fantastic. She only appeared in four films in the 1950s; what a waste. With this release, three of those four films will now be on blu-ray: Kismet, It's Always Fair Weather, and Designing Woman. So, only one more to go---I hope we'll see a blu of The Opposite Sex sometime soon.

Checking on it on B&N site and I only show it at 11% off.

Is there a special 40% off code?

In store, 40% off BD and DVD, no criterions.
Use a coupon with membership, if anyone else still remains!

Hariseldon has a 15% non-member code in the B&N thread.

I pre-ordered this through Amazon but it says it’s temporarily out of stock.

I can’t imagine there’s much demand for this so I’m surprised mine hasn’t shipped yet.

Anyway, I really want to watch this!

just got an email from amazon, that my pre-order is delayed and do I still want it? what a silly question of course I want it, I guess they under estimated it's popularity.

Just picked up a copy. Always something to enjoy in these 50's 'Scope movies. Give me a screenshot like this one, and I'm in.

Has anyone actually gotten their order delivered? This was supposed to come out the second week in June. Amazon has said since release date that it’s temporarily out of stock. I then got an email update from Amazon tonight saying it should be delivered between August 10 and September 26.

What the heck is going on with this title?

I was browsing Deep Discount earlier and noticed it's listed there as being currently in stock.

I'd switch your order to Deep Discount. I purchased it on June 8, along with a couple of other titles, and have had it for a couple of weeks. As RCRochester says, it's in stock now. Add a title to get free shipping over $25, plus the current coupon gives you 15% off your order.

Finally received my copy from Amazon today after it’s been out for almost a month.

Enjoying it so far... Gregory Peck is the man.

The colors on the Blu look amazing!

Just ordered from Amazon. It's only $11 now. The trailer has me interested. Love Gregory Peck.
