Blu-ray Archduke
|
![]() ![]() "Ferrara announced Siberia in Cannes three years ago calling it an exploration of the language of dreams and a vehicle for Willem Dafoe. It’s about the introspective voyage of a man who lives in an isolated cabin on a snow-capped mountain. Since then Siberia long languished, but Vivo Film has teamed up with German producer Philipp Kreuzer’s Maze Pictures to co-produce the pic and The Match Factory has taken world sales. They are also in talks with Sundance-winning Mexican screenwriter-producer Julio Chavezmontes (Time-Share) to come on board." SOURCE Last edited by Cremildo; 06-22-2021 at 06:00 PM. |

Really looking forward to this. I'm a huge Abel Ferrera fan and love most of his films. I recently revisited King of New York after 22 years (and a mindboggling underwhelming initial reaction) and absolutely fell in love with it. One of the best and most overlooked gangster films ever made and my favorite film of his.

Nicolas Cage and Isabelle Huppert are not in the film.
Interesting tidbit: Quote:
It'll play in competition at the Berlin Film Festival, and it's being described as a "non-narrative drama". Last edited by Cremildo; 02-04-2020 at 03:13 PM. |

Picked this baby up at Best Buy the other night, they had a couple of copies. It was on my radar but I think I didn't even know the disc was out, yet. Watched it last night... What occurred to me is that this thing is like a Meta-Dafoe joint!
![]() There's a little bit of Norman Osborn/Green Goblin in here (kept waiting for his sunglassed-shadow to speak "DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I SACRIFICED?"), there's a little Last Temptation, there's a little Von Trier AntiChrist, there's a little Van Gogh/At Eternity's Gate in here, a little Lighthouse... probably lots more! Wonder if this occurred to Ferrara or Dafoe at all?? ![]() Amazed that Lionsgate even picked this up...but glad someone did!!! I remember hearing about it at CANNES 2019 when I saw Dafoe speak there. He had like three different projects premiering, along with "My Hindu Friend" being promoted around the Market, which was made in 2016, but just getting international sales at that time. Wild movie that makes no sense whatsoever on a narrative level, but I love Ferrara and Dafoe for embracing the surreal... Now onto Tommaso and Pasolini!! |
