Community: The Complete Series Blu-ray PRE-ORDER

Quote:
First time released in HD on Blu-ray!

Featuring all 110 Episodes in glorious High Definition!

Community is a smart, exuberant comedy that was consistently ranked as one of the most inventive and original half hours on television. This ensemble comedy centers on a tight-knit group of friends who all met at what is possibly the world's worst educational institution -Greendale Community College.

Recently disbarred lawyer Jeff Winger enrolls to get a legit degree the quickest and easiest way possible, but when he starts a fake Spanish study group solely for the purpose of hooking up with a sexy classmate, he doesn’t expect to be joined by a random group of misfit fellow students. Over the course of the next 6 years, this group finds themselves involved in epic paintball battles, chicken finger conspiracies, sci-fi conventions, campus-wide pillow wars, and everything in-between. In the process, they become so much more than just a study group…they become a family.

Great announcement, though I'm not sure if I need to upgrade my DVDs (or finally watch that last season...)

Presumably. At least as far as the previously-existing DVDs are concerned. About the only real question is, will the Season 6 audio commentaries finally be on-disc instead of Yahoo! Screen downloads? They could probably go ahead and completely drop Season 4 from this set too, and no one would even know (or care), but hell, we're finally gonna have all the Dan Harmon-written seasons in glorious 1080p, and now I can finally retire my 720p Amazon Prime digital copies.

This is one of my most wanted series on blu-ray, so this is great news. I wondered if Mill Creek would finally get around to releasing this. Hopefully, it will include the copious extras from the DVDs.

According to the specs, the set will have 12 discs. With 110 episodes, we're looking at nine episodes per disc (and two discs with ten). That's equivalent to between four and five episodes of an hour-long show per disc, which is perfectly fine, especially for a digitally shot show.

MSRP: $99.98. This means we can expect to pick up for anywhere between $50-70 (or even less during certain sales), which is a great deal.

Airbender, Batman TAS, Community... clearly the Blu-ray gods have deemed 2018 the year of TV

Mill Creek has only had a singular issue with a Sony title which this is. That was Hudson Hawk and they gladly fixed it.

There is no pattern of replacement programs like Warner, Paramount, or even Disney.

30 Rock has BDs in UK or Germany... but I'd love Parks and Rec, I preferred it to Community

Not as excited for this as Happy Endings but I definitely never thought it would happen. I wonder what other Sony shows Mill Creek is releasing that just haven't been announced yet.

Speak for yourself. Season 4 was superior to Season 5 and 6 in every way.

Same. For me, season 4 is the "season that do not exists", like Star Wars I, II and I

Hmm, I'll have to think about this one. The DVDs are fairly satisfying, but there's some good visual odds and ends that could benefit from the upgrade.

Also, agreed about Season 4. It's the one season I don't own, and I don't miss it at all.

Probably the first time those words have ever been typed in human history.

Speaking as someone who's followed Dan Harmon's early work from waaaaaaayyy back in his pre-fame "Channel 101" days, it's rather clear that by Seasons 5 and 6, he was finally making the show that he always intended to make, despite NBC hamstringing him creatively on Seasons 1-3 (and he's discussed this at length in his Harmontown podcast, as well).

Seasons 5 and 6 are easily the most "Channel 101"-style of the entire series, and as someone who long wanted to see a more "Harmon-pure" version of Community as far back as Season 1 in 2009, they're a total gift. Season 4...ehhhhh...apart from maybe "Herstory of Dance," "Intro to Knots," and the Jim Rash-written episode, the rest of the gas-leak year is entirely disposable, and good riddance. There's a very good reason why Harmon and McKenna titled the Season 5 premiere episode, "Repilot."
