I'm honestly a little burned-out on action/sci-fi/super-hero UHDs. GROUNDHOG DAY is a terrific 4K disc, and I'd love to see more classic comedies hit the format (I know for certain that Sony is sitting on 4K versions of TALLADEGA NIGHTS and THIS IS THE END).

Yeah it’s time studios start pushing out Comedies and horror already. Hell more dramas would make me happy a la Few Good Men

In short: this b*tching at Lionsgate is beyond pointless. Vent by all means but it isn't going to change a thing because their back catalogue is what it is. |

If you look at Lionsgate's top 10 Blu-rays by collections here as a proxy of sales, 7 of 10 are on UBD.
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movie...by=collections I wouldn't mind seeing the remaining films but they are mostly Tarrentino or Studio Canal properties which they probably have little control over. Rank | UBD | Title 1 | No | Pulp Fiction 2 | Yes | Kick-Ass 3 | Yes | Terminator 2: Judgment Day (Skynet Edition) 4 | Yes | 3:10 to Yuma 5 | No | Reservoir Dogs (15th Anniversary Edition) 6 | Yes | Dredd 3D 7 | No | American Psycho (Uncut Version) 8 | Yes | The Hunger Games 9 | Yes | The Expendables 10 | Yes | The Cabin in the Woods 11 | Yes | John Wick 12 | No | Jackie Brown 13 | No | Evil Dead 2 (Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn | 25th Anniversary Edition) 14 | No | Rambo 15 | Yes | The Expendables 2 16 | Yes | Ex Machina 17 | Yes | The Hunger Games: Catching Fire 18 | No | Memento (10th Anniversary Special Edition) 19 | No | Apocalypse Now (Full Disclosure Edition) 20 | No | The Punisher 21 | No | Crank 22 | No | Total Recall (Mind-Bending Edition) 23 | No | The Crow 24 | No | The Descent 25 | No | Stargate: The Movie (15th Anniversary Edition) 26 | No | Total Recall 27 | No | Warrior 28 | No | Transporter 3 (Fully Loaded Edition) 29 | No | First Blood (Rambo) 30 | Yes | Sicario |

I honestly don't remember anything about this movie other than the dog
[Show spoiler] , so I'll forever never want to see this again...It's so weird how they put some stuff out on the new formats so fast that don't deserve it but bigger better titles take years and years. |

So, this now has a commercial. The majors spend millions on prestige restorations of 60-70 year-old films and don't give them commercials, but Lionsgate spends what, maybe $100,000 to do what I assume is a new scan and clean-up on a 2002 film, and they produce a commercial for the release, too.
And sure, it's not a great commercial, it doesn't mention a release date (it is posted in the title), and it doesn't feature a picture of the product. But regardless, I don't remember a commercial for Casablanca, Spartacus, Lawrence of Arabia, or even something newer like Die Hard or Independence Day. I think a few companies have something to learn, here: Last edited by McCrutchy; 06-12-2018 at 11:03 PM. |

I'm sure that actually does factor in, and to be honest, I'd be surprised if they even spent $500,000 on this, probably more like $75,000-$100,000 all things considered, though I guess it depends who they are using for film scanning and disc manufacturing.
