Are we going to get a Sharknado 4K boxset once the final one comes out in a few months?

The original Blu-ray release looked like garbage. It barely looked better than an upconverted DVD.

If this 4K disc knocks it out of the park, I’m all in.

I'm honestly a little burned-out on action/sci-fi/super-hero UHDs. GROUNDHOG DAY is a terrific 4K disc, and I'd love to see more classic comedies hit the format (I know for certain that Sony is sitting on 4K versions of TALLADEGA NIGHTS and THIS IS THE END).

Yeah it’s time studios start pushing out Comedies and horror already. Hell more dramas would make me happy a la Few Good Men

National Lampoon’s Van Wilder” arrives on 4K Ultra HD™ Digitally August 7th and on 4K Ultra HD™ Combo Pack (plus Blu-ray™ and Digital) August 14th from Lionsgate.

The hilarious movie that turned Ryan Reynolds into a household name comes home once again. Experience four times the resolution of Full HD with 4K along with Dolby Vision™ HDR to bring to life the stunning cinematography of this hilarious film. Dolby Vision transforms TV experiences in the home by delivering greater brightness and contrast, as well as a fuller palette of rich colors. The release also features Dolby Atmos® audio mixed specifically for the home to place and move audio anywhere in the room, including overhead. Starring Reynolds along with Tara Reid, Tim Matheson, Paul Gleason, and Kal Penn, the “National Lampoon’s Van Wilder” 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack is loaded with special features and will be available for the suggested retail price of $22.99.

You’ll never think of bulldogs, pastries, protein shakes, or tutors in the same way again… “National Lampoon’s Van Wilder” stars Ryan Reynolds as a 7th-year student who has no plans to graduate. Life is good for Van; he’s got a coed in every closet and a party to go to every night. His slick reputation even catches the eye of sexy Gwen Pearson (Tara Reid), an on-campus reporter determined to expose the naked truth behind his wild exterior. When Gwen enters his life and his father stops paying for his tuition, could Van’s days as the king of Coolidge College be over? Find out for yourself in this outrageous laugh-fest that you’re sure to go “nuts” over!

Starring Ryan Reynolds (“Deadpool” franchise, “The Hitman’s Bodyguard,” “Life”), Tara Reid (“American Pie, “Alone in the Dark,” “Cruel Intentions”), Tim Matheson (“Animal House,” TV’s “The West Wing,’ TV’s “Hart of Dixie”), Kal Penn (“Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle,” TV’s “How I Met Your Mother”), Curtis Armstrong (“Revenge of the Nerds,” “Better Off Dead,” “Risky Business”), and Simon Helberg (TV’s “The Big Bang Theory,” “Old School,” “Florence Foster Jenkins”).

Lionsgate need to start putting out better catalog titles on 4K. Not-so-good films like this get 4K but not instant classics like The Terminator, The Thing (1982), and The Abyss?

Your beef is with other studios, Lionsgate are at least releasing material.

Damn, it's like my comment earlier in the thread was tailor-made to reply to you:

In short: this b*tching at Lionsgate is beyond pointless. Vent by all means but it isn't going to change a thing because their back catalogue is what it is.

If you look at Lionsgate's top 10 Blu-rays by collections here as a proxy of sales, 7 of 10 are on UBD.

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movie...by=collections

I wouldn't mind seeing the remaining films but they are mostly Tarrentino or Studio Canal properties which they probably have little control over.

I honestly don't remember anything about this movie other than the dog
[Show spoiler]semen in the doughnuts
, so I'll forever never want to see this again...

It's so weird how they put some stuff out on the new formats so fast that don't deserve it but bigger better titles take years and years.

So, this now has a commercial. The majors spend millions on prestige restorations of 60-70 year-old films and don't give them commercials, but Lionsgate spends what, maybe $100,000 to do what I assume is a new scan and clean-up on a 2002 film, and they produce a commercial for the release, too.

And sure, it's not a great commercial, it doesn't mention a release date (it is posted in the title), and it doesn't feature a picture of the product. But regardless, I don't remember a commercial for Casablanca, Spartacus, Lawrence of Arabia, or even something newer like Die Hard or Independence Day. I think a few companies have something to learn, here:

Those didn't have Ryan Reynolds, let's not kid ourselves into thinking they did it for any other reason than it's probably one of the few if not the only catalog film of his that Lionsgate has to cash in on Deadpool 2 with.

I'm sure that actually does factor in, and to be honest, I'd be surprised if they even spent $500,000 on this, probably more like $75,000-$100,000 all things considered, though I guess it depends who they are using for film scanning and disc manufacturing.
